| in re: David Lloyd George - His father's last name was George, and his mother's last name was Lloyd; but he took (or was given) for his last name a agglomeration of the two (as opposed to a hyphenation, which is more common) - Lloyd George. This was clearly a surname, not Lloyd as a middle name: his wife, née Margaret Owen, became Margaret Lloyd George. Interestingly (perhaps), when he was ennobled near the end of his life, his title became Earl Lloyd-George of Dwyfor. |
