	Thanks for using the correct years. So many people incorrectly use the year the awards ceremony was held, when the awards ceremony is honoring the films of the prior year (e.g., Slumdog Millionaire was honored as the Best Picture of 2008, with the award given out in 2009; the ceremony held this year was the 2009 Oscars, held in March 2010 to honor the films of 2009).

	@ Arbogast really either year is correct, you just have to specify which you are referring to. It is certainly not incorrect to say that the Hurt Locker won the Best picture Award in 2010, just the same as it would be correct to say The Hurt Locker was selected as the Best Picture of 2009 by the Academy. It is the same as the Super Bowl did the Saints win the 2010 Super Bowl or are they the 2009 Super Bowl Champions? The game was played in 2010 but the season was played in 2009? Everybody knows the '85 Bears were one of the greatest teams of all time, but the 1985 Super Bowl was won by the San Francisco 49ers because the Bears played in the Super Bowl in 1986. Anyway I really think both are acceptable and correct.

	Ironic that a film that virtually nobody saw (The Hurt Locker) is beating blockbusters like The Godfather and The Sound Of Music.

	@quent1979: I assume that's because it was from this year, and the public is saturated with "Oscar buzz" today as well as being exposed to many more films and coverage than in the 1960s and 1970s. We know (and remember) who won recently, while I'd bet the mass of this site's visitors weren't alive when The Godfather and The Sound of Music won. That's a little more comforting to me than thinking that they just haven't seen The Godfather or don't care to remember it.

	@MovieDynamic, for those of us who don't have the word "movie" in our names, the years don't make it too easy but rather just help us out. I mean I don't know anybody who knows every single Best Picture winner, given the year or not, and if you do, well good for you and you really shouldn't be taking any Oscar quiz because they should all be easy for you.

	I'm kicking myself for forgetting The Apartment...Jack Lemmon is a god. I was twsting my brain around in knots for the 2003 one, I just couldn't figure it out, I Was sure it was Return of the Kin...then I see not only is it not even "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King," it's "THE Lord of the Rings: Return of the King." Boo to that nonsense!! Other than my brain hurting from that one, great quiz!

	To rnf: The best picture winners are from the year before, e.g. Slumdog Millionaire won best picture in 2008, but was made in 2007.

	LionelMessi: actually, Slumdog Millionaire was released in 2008 and won in 2009. This quiz uses the release dates, not the date the ceremony was held.
