Fun quiz! Seems like a lot of time, though. And I find it hilarious that, at this very moment, the least guessed ingredient is the chocolate chips themselves.

I thought this was going to be hard, like how much of each ingredient! Not that that's hard...(memorized.) Just an FYI, some people will add 1/2 cup chopped pecans....if you want an outstanding cookie, add 1/2 cup chopped macadamian nuts! OMG! Delicious! BTY, Nice quiz!

I thought that this seemed like a very short minute... When did Sporcle add 30-second intervals?

Any chance of accepting baking powder, or are they actually two different things and that's why my baking is always a disaster?!

@Rackie, they are two different things. Baking Powder includes baking soda but also other ingredients like cream of tarter. Some recipes do call for both, but they aren't interchangeable.

Is it just me, or does the the 30 second timer pretty much just make quizzes into a "how fast can you type" challenge?

Re: Baking Soda: It is known as bicarbonate of soda in the UK which definitely should be accepted. I wasted so many of my 30 seconds typing that out. Wikipedia claims it has a bunch of other names such as bread soda, cooking soda or simply bicarb.

It was 30 seconds? I wondered how I ran out of time so quick! (Before I could think of vanilla extract.) Could you accept "white sugar" for granulated sugar? I typed brown sugar first so I just reflexively typed white sugar and it wouldn't take it.

White sugar, brown sugar, yellow sugar.
Can't we all just get along?

According to the cookie recipe in the copy of the original Toll House cook book I happen to have, from the original Toll House restaurant, this is not how to make a Toll House cookie. Just saying.

I know this recipe by heart - have made it often and have the hips to prove it... unfortunately, I can't type nearly as fast as I can eat the cookies (or the dough).

I grew up in the town where the cookie was invented, had numerous dinners and functions at the Toll House itself, my grandmother was even a close friend of the woman who created the cookie, but I still couldn't name all the ingredients with even 5 minutes on the clock.

I use 1 cup chocolate chips, 1 cup peanut butter chips, and 1 cup crushed pretzels. Also, substitute butter flavored Crisco for regular butter. The **** be the bomb!

"Well, y’know I may have relatives in France who would know. My grandmother said she got the recipe from her grandmother, Nesele Tolouse." "What was her name?" "Nesele Toulouse" "Nestle Tollhouse???" "Oh, you Americans always butcher the French language."

Of course, in the '70s and early '80s, we usually just had margarine and Crisco in the house, so we used one of those. Nowhere near as good as when you use real butter (and dark brown sugar!).

I have said it before, and I will say it again...I will marry the first woman I meet that has this recipe memorized! I have since added that she must also know how to make homemade biscuits and red-eye gravy. Gee, I hope I never get 'called' on this....oops!
