Fun quiz! Seems like a lot of time, though. And I find it hilarious that, at this very moment, the least guessed ingredient is the chocolate chips themselves.

What?? There are people who can't make these in their sleep??? Nice idea!

Now I'm hungry. Yum!!

I thought this was going to be hard, like how much of each ingredient! Not that that's hard...(memorized.) Just an FYI, some people will add 1/2 cup chopped pecans....if you want an outstanding cookie, add 1/2 cup chopped macadamian nuts! OMG! Delicious! BTY, Nice quiz!

I thought that this seemed like a very short minute... When did Sporcle add 30-second intervals?

Any chance of accepting baking powder, or are they actually two different things and that's why my baking is always a disaster?!
Sep 5th, 2012 at 20:47 GMT
@Rackie, they are two different things. Baking Powder includes baking soda but also other ingredients like cream of tarter. Some recipes do call for both, but they aren't interchangeable.
Sep 5th, 2012 at 20:58 GMT
Is it just me, or does the the 30 second timer pretty much just make quizzes into a "how fast can you type" challenge?
Sep 5th, 2012 at 21:00 GMT
Re: Baking Soda: It is known as bicarbonate of soda in the UK which definitely should be accepted. I wasted so many of my 30 seconds typing that out. Wikipedia claims it has a bunch of other names such as bread soda, cooking soda or simply bicarb.
Sep 5th, 2012 at 21:13 GMT
How the heck did you do the 30-second interval???
Sep 5th, 2012 at 21:28 GMT
It was 30 seconds? I wondered how I ran out of time so quick! (Before I could think of vanilla extract.) Could you accept "white sugar" for granulated sugar? I typed brown sugar first so I just reflexively typed white sugar and it wouldn't take it.
Sep 5th, 2012 at 21:33 GMT
White sugar needs to be accepted.
Sep 5th, 2012 at 21:34 GMT
In my family we add an extra bag of chocolate chips.
Sep 5th, 2012 at 21:43 GMT
Since the quiz was written by Gateau, shouldn't this be a

White sugar, brown sugar, yellow sugar.
Can't we all just get along?

According to the cookie recipe in the copy of the original Toll House cook book I happen to have, from the original Toll House restaurant, this is not how to make a Toll House cookie. Just saying.
Sep 5th, 2012 at 22:39 GMT
I know this recipe by heart - have made it often and have the hips to prove it... unfortunately, I can't type nearly as fast as I can eat the cookies (or the dough).
Sep 5th, 2012 at 22:50 GMT
Like the color scheme. And yes it is true, everyone: 30 second (and 90 second) quizzes can now be created on Sporcle!
Sep 6th, 2012 at 00:32 GMT
I grew up in the town where the cookie was invented, had numerous dinners and functions at the Toll House itself, my grandmother was even a close friend of the woman who created the cookie, but I still couldn't name all the ingredients with even 5 minutes on the clock.
Sep 6th, 2012 at 00:41 GMT
I use 1 cup chocolate chips, 1 cup peanut butter chips, and 1 cup crushed pretzels. Also, substitute butter flavored Crisco for regular butter. The **** be the bomb!
Sep 6th, 2012 at 00:58 GMT
I ran out of time before I could remember the last ingredient. I freaking forgot chocolate chips in a chocolate chip cookie recipe!
Sep 6th, 2012 at 00:58 GMT
too short! i had barely enough time to think!
Sep 6th, 2012 at 01:43 GMT
Whoa! Wait a minute! 30 SECONDS?????? Since when does Sporcle use the 30 second interval????
Sep 6th, 2012 at 02:09 GMT
I can make these in my sleep. LOVE choc chip cookies!
Sep 6th, 2012 at 02:20 GMT
If I had a dollar for every time I made this recipe, I'd weigh...oh wait...I do weigh that much.
Sep 6th, 2012 at 03:31 GMT
Since the time was so short, i thought it was a spelling challenge, and i got 0 correct because i didn't know what was going on.
Sep 6th, 2012 at 11:19 GMT
whats wrong with eggs, it accepts flour for all purpose flour?
Sep 6th, 2012 at 18:55 GMT
Clever idea for a yummy quiz! Good job.

"Well, y’know I may have relatives in France who would know. My grandmother said she got the recipe from her grandmother, Nesele Tolouse." "What was her name?" "Nesele Toulouse" "Nestle Tollhouse???" "Oh, you Americans always butcher the French language."

I've had this recipe memorized for years! My sister and I used to bake it all the time as kids and teenagers.
Nov 22nd, 2012 at 02:43 GMT
Of course, in the '70s and early '80s, we usually just had margarine and Crisco in the house, so we used one of those. Nowhere near as good as when you use real butter (and dark brown sugar!).
Jan 11th, 2013 at 20:11 GMT
I have said it before, and I will say it again...I will marry the first woman I meet that has this recipe memorized! I have since added that she must also know how to make homemade biscuits and red-eye gravy. Gee, I hope I never get 'called' on this....oops!
Mar 4th, 2013 at 03:21 GMT
Even if i knew all of those i dont think i could have been able to type it all within that amount of time.
