@paulvc: interesting... it used to give directions between N America & Europe, with "swim the Atlantic Ocean" going from (iirc) Boston to somewhere in Co. Kerry. And now it connects Europe and Eastern Asia (via kayak + jetski), but it's lost the Atlantic route. So I can get directions from here in Halifax, NS, Canada, to Lhasa, or to Hobart, but not to go and visit my parents in the UK. What's actually a bit sad is how, while oceans are no barrier to Google travellers, countries which don't have sufficient data (presumably because their governments are less affluent and/or less open) do. So Europe, eastern Asia, and India are all completely disconnected from each other, and hardly anything international works at all within Africa... |
