I was considering guessing Democratic Republic of Congo and every surrounding country, but I didn't have the typing endurance. by the way, longest thing I have ever typed as a sporcle answer: "democratic republic of the congo and central african republic"

I know it's my fault for not realizing I was misspelling it b4, but Kazakstan (w/o the "h") is accepted for the Countries of the World quiz but not this one...

Per wiki, Norway and Sweden have a 1,619 km border, just missing this list...

Great quiz and good job. Coding all those combinations must have been a pain.

It must have been a pain, but that doesn't excuse them not doing it correctly before they post it. It needs to accept, say, this: "republic of the congo and democratic republic of the congo," which it doesn't. The Congoes are all a mess.

Sweden and Norway should be bonus. It just messes with your head if not. DR Congo did not work. I thought that it is most referred to as DR Congo. Quizzes like this one really sticks it to you on how small Europe is geographically speaking.

@foghorn: agreed. i typed "drc republic of the congo" and it didn't take. i really do like the idea of this quiz, though. it is challenging enough yet not impossible.

Sweden and Norway certainly makes you rethink geography. I got 20 and ditto on being lazy about the Congos. I knew they had long borders, but I couldn't bring myself to try.

I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one with DRC issues. Aside from this minor flaw, awesome quiz! Way to think outside the box when making a new geography quiz.

One of the best quizzes on this site! Very challenging but doable, and I consider myself a hero for getting "Democratic Republic of the Congo and Republic of the Congo". Can't believe how many I missed in South America while wasting all that time on the *stans.

Since it accepted "DRC Zambia" I moved on when it didn't accept "DRC Rep Congo", which are accepted abbreviations for those countries on all the other quizzes. Boo to that.

Nice idea for a quiz. Unfortunately, it suffers all the same problems that the coastline quiz does: there's no guarantee that the CIA has measured the borders at the same scale. This is especially relevant as the whole idea that borders and coastlines are fractal came about after somebody noticed that Spain claimed its border with Portugal was about 1,000 km but Portugal claimed that its border with Spain was about 1,200 km.

18/30. Good quiz, not just blind guessing like some others. I am also missing NOrway and Swedenm but I guess European countries are small then compared to some others...

@Bojan: Yes, most European countries are fairly small and, not only that, but their borders are spread between several neighbours. For example, Austria is a pretty small country and its border is shared between Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

This quiz is awesome. Really makes you think. Had 28/30, picked the wrong Botswana border (Namibia) and figured SA was shorter, and Peru/Col just blanked. I think I might have tried Norway/Sweden about six times at different points.

The problem with the "Democratic Republic of the Congo" and "Republic of the Congo" iterations is due to the fact that there is a limit on the number of characters one can use for acceptable alternate answers. As a result, it is impossible to include all the possible acceptable answers for these countries without running out of room. Believe me, I tried!

This test is the varsity version of naming the countries in the world since I kept trying to picture that quiz when thinking of longest borders. I also fell victim to typing in Sweden and Norway 10 times. Great quiz

Is it cheating to look at the countries of the world quiz map while doing this? If so, I still suck since I only went 13-for-30.

Great quiz. Harder than I thought. I too was surprised Norway-Sweden didn't make the list, as well as Nigeria-Cameroon and Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan (to name a few). For me, the hardest one was Congo-Gabon (also seems to be the hardest for everyone overall too). Also surprised how high up the India-Bangladesh border ranked. I know Bang. is nearly surrounded by India and it's a twisty border, but DAMN!
