"Rouble" is also an acceptable spelling of the Russian currency.

The Chinese Yuan is also called the Renminbi or Peoples Currency.

Hmm. The image used on the front page of the site to link to this quiz is the reverse side of a British £2 coin. But the British pound isn't one of the currencies in the quiz. :-)

Good quiz. One could always suggest additional currencies for inclusion, but I suppose they can be in later quizzes. By the way, if you are going to specify New Lira for Turkey, I believe that Israel should have New Sheqel.

Craig is right. Renminbi should be an acceptable answer for China. Otherwise, this is a good quiz. Another cool one would be former currencies of countries now in the Eurozone.

argh, I think I tried every alternative spelling for "ruble" I could muster! Very frustrating but otherwise a fantastic game!

@davidr- Ah, so that's why it didn't accept "Lance Armstrong"

@Tim Welch - I think there is a former Eurozone currency quiz, have a search, I'm sure I remember doing that one.

Why isn't the British pound on this quiz?

I would think the British pound and US dollar were omitted because they are way too easy. Although I gave up at 14, I liked this quiz because there were some tricky ones (and some that were just obscure). The similarities in names between widely separated countries was interesting (Brazil, Iran), as were the ones whose names reflect historical connections (Egypt, Kenya, Venezuela).

@Josh Turner - maybe British pound and U.S. dollar are omitted because "pound" and "dollar" are already answers. I like the fact that each currency is different - you don't get any freebies by entering "pound" and having it fill in several different places. Makes you work!

It helps if you once collected stamps. Good quiz. I got thrown by Brazil because at one point they were changing currencies very quickly: cruzeiro or cruzado; maybe peso or escudo? ...but no (não).

Wouldn't it be great to have a quiz for ALL the world's currencies, rather than just a few of them? And not something that allowed you to enter "dollar" or "euro" and hit multiple countries.

How about adding some: Bulgarian lev, Swedish/Icelandic krona, Hungarian forint, Emir/Moroccan dirham, Saudi/Qatari riyal, Croatian kuna, Peruvian nuevo sol, Costa Rican colon, Estonian kroon, Zambian kwacha, for some fairly popular ones. Also, Why name only one of the countries that use the dollar, pound, lira, franc, etc.?
