I was wrong. Woody Allen wrote and starred in this movie: it was directed by Herbert Ross. Apologies.

Only 27... and here I thought he was one on my favorite directors. :( If it gets me off the hook, those were almost all from the last decade or so... Anyway, my contribution: 1) Purple Rose of Cairo, 2)Crimes and Misdemeanors, 3)Hannah and Her Sisters, 4)Zelig, 5)Annie Hall

I'll bite: #1 Broadway Danny Rose, #2 Crimes And Misdemeanors, #3 Radio Days, #4 Annie Hall, #5 Sweet And Lowdown. But there's 12-15 of these that really could be his best. Any of those 15 would easily be in just about any other director's top five.

1. Manhattan 2. Crimes and Misdemeanors 3. Annie Hall 4. Sleeper 5. Husbands and Wives (underrated!). Honorable mention: Bullets over Broadway, Stardust Memories and Love and Death. One of my five favorite directors ever, even though i haven't seen most of his work in the last 15 years.

He's been making movies for 46 years. That's nearly half of the entire history of cinema. Amazing.

Missing 'Don't Drink the Water' from 1994. It originally aired on TV, but he wrote and directed it. Should probably count for the list.

Maddening! I had an almost complete brain freeze... Anyway, Take The Money And Run; Crimes And Misdemeanors; Manhattan; Small Time Crooks; Hannah And Her Sisters... though it's really hard to narrow it down like that. I'd just take those top 3 and have anyone watch them if ever I thought he needed more fans.
