Excellent game. Now this is something I can learn from. Although I will say, when entering the name of a certain Robbie Robertson act, four things popped up and something else unexpected popped up with "the"

Yeah, Ten Years After came up when I typed 'the'.

Is there a way to turn off the last name for some of these bands? It just seems silly to type in after and get Ten Years After.

When Jethro Tull was asked why they didn't play at Woodstock, they said they didn't want to spend a weekend in "a field of unwashed hippies." When Led Zeppelin was asked, the manager said the bill wouldn't be Led Zeppelin and others, they would just be another band playing at the festival.

"Ten Years After" also shows up if you just type "an".

I tried 'Crosby, Stills and Nash,' then 'David Crosby,' then 'Crosby,' 'Stills,' and 'Nash' individually,' then 'Neil Young,' finally I tried just 'Young,' and it was accepted as 'Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.' Pretty finicky for a quiz that gives you five answers correct just for typing 'The Band'

More fine-tuning for this quiz: I typed "John Sebastian" several times, but it didn't take it -- it wants John B. Sebastian. Also, why don't I get credit for "Country Joe MacDonald" but I do for "Country Joe and the Fish"? ESPECIALLY after getting a whole lot of answers for "Band."

OK, fixed the band issue, last names should still work for this game, but typing in 'band' should only give you the actual answer for which it is intended. Also, fixed the Ten Year After problem and the John Sebastian issue. Country Joe should also be working. Sorry for the trouble!

It's funny how much the other band bands dropped after the giveaway was lifted.

Jefferson Airplane, The Who, CCR, Sha-Na-Na-Na. One of these bands doesn't belong.

Cool quiz! You should make a Monterey International Pop Festival one next.

Do one for "Donnington Monsters of Rock" bands, that would be sweet; GnR, ACDC, Blue Oyster Cult, Whitesnake, Slade, Blackfoot, Motley Crue, More etc...

Janis Jopin should not be accepted. That would be like typing "The Who" and getting no credit because you needed to type Pete Townshend. I typed "big brother and the holding company" and nothing.

@Art Vandaley; That's because it's Janis Joplin not Janis Jopin

@Art Vandaley: Also, Janis Joplin didn't play Woodstock with Big Brother and the Holding Company. Like at all. Big Brother was not in attendance. Joplin had left that band more than a year earlier; she performed at Woodstock with her a new band, Kozmic Blues, which was straightforwardly a backing band. Also, your misogyny is showing.

@ Lucian; Neil Young played Woodstock, but mostly skipped the first set. He played during the second set but refuesed to be filmed.

A lot of people know about Jethro Tull and Led Zeppelin turning down Woodstock, but people never hear the story about how Woodstock turned down John Lennon and Yoko Ono...

Mountain is accepted as an answer, even though it shows up as Leslie West. Wasn't it West's band Mountain that played Woodstock?

I have a copy of the Woodstock poster and I noticed that Incredible String Band and Sly & the Family Stone were originally billed for Friday and that CCR were billed as Creedence Clearwater.

Sorry to call you on it, but as mentioned above Neil Young wasn't with the boys at this one. Cool quiz though, I never knew Creedence played.

Can you accept Butterfield Blues Band? I've seen both names used - when neither that nor Butterfield worked I assumed they weren't there.

@dburger - Joe Boyd, who produced and I think managed the Incredible String Band, talks in his book about how he wouldn't let them go on in the pouring rain on Friday because of safety concerns, and Melanie took their spot instead and became something of an instant legend.

Looks like day 2 had some great music. Besides Jimi, the other days probably sucked.
