Goolagong should work for Cawley. I've been watching Wimbledon since 1983 and I've never heard her referred to as Cawley.

You should accept Mortimer for 1961. I didn't even know she had a married name. If you accept Goolagong, you should accept Mortimer.

I agree with accepting Mortimer, gotta keep it consistent. You could maybe even accept Smith for female 63 and 65 winner. That was her name when she won those as well.

Hmm ... I scored 82, but it wouldn't accept Goran ivanisovic (couldn't do the special characters maybe), ann Jones, margaret court or margaret smith; or my variations on Kraijchek. Mental blank on Davenport and cash, which was annoying. Good quiz!

Fun, quiz. Cos Wimbledon's fresh in my mind got 83. The 1960's was my bugbear! 1960 seems arbitrary though? Why not the start of the pro area? Would also like to see losing finalists (Its amazing how much more easily they're forgotten...)

All you can do is type in "Williams Federer Nadal Sampras Agassi" and it gives you a pretty good score

Navratilolva is an absolute beast! She's won 20 Wimbledon majors altogether! (Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles.)

@ GeoExpert - If you replace Agassi with Navratalova or King, it gives you a much better score. And Nadal has never won Wimbledon.

How is it that 94% got Venus, but only 29% got Serena in '09? Do most people type full names? If you type Williams, you get all of their combined championships. Or does Sporcle not adjust the statistics for new entries?

For a young person, I count 79 as fairly successful :) Can't believe Lendl never won this tournament (finalist in 86-87).

geoexpert: nadal and agassi have both only won it once each, whereas if you used navratilova and graf, you'd get many more points. beatnavy: the reason it wont accept kournikova is because she's never won winbledon. maybe you're thinking of sharapova? very good quiz, i didn't really have any idea about the 60s though.

Well the multiple wins of one single player eases it down well. And if you think about sister players, one name gets a loada answers.

It would not take Mortimer. She did not marry until 1967 so Mortimer Barrett is not strictly correct. I assume that is why this is the least guessed answer.

@bama...I, too, was dumbfounded not to find Ivan Lendl on this list. Same for Ken Rosewall, Guillermo Villas, and Vitas Guerelitas (or however you spell it.) An amazingly hard tournament to win. Grass! Strawberries and Cream for everyone!

@scarpgarph: I think the skewing is great - I hope it's not fixed. If you get them all right now, it shows you as in the top 0% .. and there's a particular thrill to that for Sporclers, surely!

You seem to have put the men's champions from the years 2000-2003, 2005 and 2007-2010 as the ladies' champions. Fix it. Oh, and jesus, you don't need to say "like". Are you some sort of moron?
