| Had never heard of the Walking With A Ghost EP until now. Will have to get hold of it some day.
I think the White Stripes are a brilliant example of a band whose music is extremely simple and yet both hugely likeable and intelligent despite its simplicity. Jack White's solos are brilliant and climactic even though he never shows off in them (cf. a few songs on Elephant, like Ball and Biscuit). Still, I can understand people not liking their stripped-down sound and simplicity. On the one hand it's not fair to call something rubbish because its simple; on the other, it's fair enough to prefer musicians who show some considerable skill. But even then, I think Jack at least shows us that he has plenty. |
