	@Scott Selby: The Wikipedia article only lists Majorian without the first R. I'm sure you're correct, but I think Majorian is the official spelling (since his Latin name is Iulius Valerius Maiorianus).

	Probably should put in alternate names - I was always taught that the last emperor was Romulus Augustulus, and indeed he was little as an Augustus went.

	"what the hell happened to augustus, vespasian, caligula and the rest? who the hell are these guys?" The roman empire eventually split into two different empires. The whole empire (or Rome Classic brand) is the one with Augustus and friends.

	Because Julius Caesar was dictator for life at the end of the Roman Republic and never was he crowned an Emperor, though he did set things in motion for the Republic to fall and for the Empire to rise. About a month before his death, however, Caesar Augustus did offer him the emperorship of Rome, which may or may not have been in jest, and Augustus may have been drunk. Either way, Julius Caesar turned down the title.

	I learned it that Theodoric the Great (or Theodoric the Ostrigoth), due to Zeno's assignment and Zeno treating him like an equal, was the last of the Roman Emperors. Then when he died and the Byzantines invaded the Ostrogoth kingdom, the Western Roman Empire had completely disappeared forever.

	Caesar was never offered the Empire by Augustus, they never met and were not even related (Augustus or Octavian was only adopted by Caesar in his will) the only person that could have been seen to offer Caesar the 'Empire' was Marcus Antonius or Mark Antony and that was because in a ceremony he gave him a small Diadem, certainly not an Imperial crown. The only thing it was construed as then was his potential inclination to want to be King. (he later took it off) This was one of the reasons for his eventual assassination.

	And these Emperors are not those of the Unified Empire i.e. Augustus and such, these are the Emperors of the Western Empire 400 years later after the collapse of the Tetrachy and the deaths of Constantine the Great and Theodosius I (the last Emperor of the whole Empire) the Roman world split asunder forever into Eastern and Western Parts.
