At the speed I type, I was extremely disappointed that 'Joseph and his amazing technicolour dreamcoat' wasn't on the list...

Argh! I couldn't remember the name of the Queen tribute musical! I kept typing The Show Must Go On, but I knew that was wrong...

Why isn't joseph on here? I saw it as a kid with Jason Donovan in it, that must have been at least 15 years ago

I think the Joseph show with Jason Donovan from the early 1990's won't count because it wasn't the same version as the original Joseph musical. The newer version was extended, so it would probably come under the "no revival" rule.

I'm surprised Jesus Chrsit Superstar is as low down compared to the top two ... I thought it was equally as well known if not more so ... I was wrong obviously!

I can understand why 'The Black and White Minstrel Show' didn't have 'Moustraps' longevity.

How can "We Will Rock You" have run for 8 years when it debuted in 2002? Does Sporcle have a crystal ball?

There are several errors here. It's impossible for a show that opened in 1988 to have run 22 years in 2009. Likewise, 1989+21, 1999+11 and 2002+8=2010. On the other hand, the 1952 debut is still running, now in its 57th year.

@davidr - you are correct about the 1952 debut, it is now in its 57th year rather than 55th, but the rest of the examples you have given are not errors. The 1988 debut has been running for 21 FULL years and is now in its 22nd year, based on the opening date. Same with the other 3. So the number of years running for those shows that are currently still open are based on the year of running it is in, not the number of full years completed.

Broadway long-runners compared to those in the West End bring home how profoundly our English-speaking cultures can differ. After typing many learned in Sporcle's Broadway quiz, I realized...Rent and Annie Get Your Gun mightn't appeal...and I had no idea what the Black and White Minstrel Show was about. Fascinating.

@Milkmeister- 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009. I'm sure the performances for the rest of this and probably next year are already scheduled. :)

Lady in Black is a fantastic show. Also saw Les Mis which was fantastic as well. Stomp was well done. Starlight express? meh. I am surprised that as many times as I have been to the West End district, I have never even heard of Moustrap.
