All 13. Took me a while though. Had to remember what mid-Wales was called back in the day. I'm Welsh, I'm supposed to know this stuff.

should really allow caernarfonshire to be spelt with an 'f' - as that's a recognised spelling. other than that 11/13. hooray the welsh.

Could also allow Breconshire for Brecknockshire. Got 13/13 at the third time of asking!

Merionethshire is not a recognised spelling at all. In English it used to be Meirionethshire. A typo maybe or an Americanism?

why would there be an americanism on the spelling of a welsh county? or an english one for that matter i dont think they care enough/are used often enough in the states to spell them differently

I did it! on my 4th go :) I kept getting stuck on the powys/dyfed etc ones. When were they? Re Sparky: yes I agree a modern one would be great :) not that I'd get them all first time by a long shot!

I think Ynys Môn could count for Anglesey.

Good quiz. Merionethshire looks right to me, by the way. But what do I know? I'm English.

Ynys Môn has only been used since 1973 before that it was known as Anglesey. It took me a long time to work out that the first syllable of Caerarfonshire was spelt in the Welsh way, but the second was anglicised. Please be consistent, either Carnarvon or Caernarfon. Enjoyed the quiz. Brink back proper counties.

5, I'd like to think I'd do better on the modern county names.

Please accept Brycheiniog, Maldwyn, and some obvious variants on Sir Fôn (Sir Fon, Ynys Môn, Ynys Mon, Môn).

Good quiz, and I particularly enjoyed it because I am currently living in Wales (although I am not Welsh). However, I could not get Caernarvonshire, or any of the mid-Wales counties. I only know these two areas as Gwynedd and Powys respectively.
