only knew a few because Homer Simpson listed a couple when he envisioned Bart becoming Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. When he mentioned Warren Burger he paused and said mmmmmmmm... burger. Ah the Simpsons can be referenced to answer anything.

Be fun to have a all-justices sporcle - fun for law nerds, anyway.

Interesting tidbit (once a question on Final Jeopardy!): their title is *not* "Chief Justice of the Supreme Court." It is (as correctly indicated here) "Chief Justice of the United States."

@Dan Zambito, Warren Burger was the only one I got, again due to Homer and mmmmmmmmmmm......burger.

I think a fun quiz would be to identify the current justices by their picture.

I knew Jay because he was first, Marshall for his historical importance, Hughes because he's the other guy Homer said in his "mmmm... burger" scene, and the rest because they are recent. Can anybody who didn't go to law school get more than 10? I thought Felix Frankfurter and Oliver Wendell Holmes were two of them.

Frankfurter was on the court, but never Chief Justice; same with Holmes. I remember that he's not one because he's known as the great dissenter, sort of a pain in the neck of the CJ. Taney I remember because he wrote the Dred Scott decision, though I always try to stick a w into the middle of his name. And Chase I remember from being on one of the big monetary bills and I think he was involved in the assassination attempts too. Don't know if that helps!

Julia: Roger Brooke Taney is the way to spell his name. Although, it is pronounced as if it were spelled "Tawney."

Chief Justice Taney is my great-great-great-and so on (im not sure how many greats) grandfather and my brother, father, and grandfather are named Taney in his honor. Its pronounced "tawney" and annoys my brother to no end when he has to explain the pronunciation/history of it.

Interesting re: the pronounciation of Taney, because Taney County, Missouri, and Lake Taneycomo (which is a contration of "Taney County Missouri") are pronounced "Tay-nee", at least by the locals.

The four since Warren because they are recent, and then Jay, Marshall, Taney, Chase, and Taft for fame (or infamy.) I'd agree that 10+ would be hard without having studied it for some reason.

I find it funny that we had a Earl Warren followed by a Warren Earl (Burger).
