	@edu: Entering "younger" and "elder" suffices for the two Pitts. It's an artifact of the last name being enough: the software just thinks the last word is the last name.

	I know Younger and Elder works for the Pitts, but that doesn't cross my mind. I think "Pitt the Elder" and "Pitt the Younger". Took me forever to recall their full names because it didn't even occur to me that elder and younger alone would suffice. I think it would be nice if "Pitt the Elder" and "Pitt the Younger" were also allowed.

	This quiz reminds me of one of my favorite "Simpsons" scenes of all time. It's the episode where Mr. Burns puts together a softball team full of ringers. Wade Boggs can't play, though, because he gets punched out by Barney while they're arguing about who is Britain's greatest PM of all time. Barney says it's Lord Palmerston and Boggs says it's Pitt the Elder.

	Haha Brett, I was just going to post that I only got Lord Palmerston because of the Simpsons. But I couldn't rememnber the other guy in the argument. Other than that, I only know the recent people and Churchill. I guess I've heard of Disraeli too but didn't think of him. Not too up on my British PMs.

	As pointed out before - It's "Earl of Shelburne" not "Shelbourne". Don't take Wikipedia's word for it, either - all other sources call him "Shelburne." "Shelbourne" appears to be the current spelling of the place in Dublin for which the earldom was named, but the guy himself is correctly called "Shelburne." And "Pitt" ought to be sufficient to get both Pitts. If "Grenville" gets you both Grenvilles, I don't see any argument for not doing the same with Pitt.

	Took this quiz because of all the brits on the presidents quiz. Couldn't remember Brown though, there's a personality. Every American should know North, Churchill, Blair, Thatcher and probably Lloyd-George and Chamberlin. Got Pitt the younger because of Black Adder III. Also Earl Grey? I'm going to remember that one from now on!

	From what I've read on here there are far more comments by people like lynzee moaning about British people complaining about US based quizzes than there are actual British people complaining about US based quizzes. Try and get rid of the massive chip on your shoulder lynzee (and people like you), and then take your own advice and just take the quizzes you want to take instead of arrogantly making your bitchy little point in a quiz where no-one up to that point had made a negative comment. I happen to enjoy US based history and geography quizzes like probably most Brits who come on here and get sick of being lectured by self-righteous idiots like you whenever I happen to read the comments.

	@lynzee : You manage to take a lot of room on this page to say something that could be said in a line or two. The quiz itself now has the problem that Pitt the Younger works but not Pitt the Elder.

	How is it more worrying that Tony Blair - or Thatcher for that matter - is more obvious than Winston Churchill? Tony Blair was PM from 97-07. His time in office ended 2 years ago, and everyone who has played this game probably lived through his time. If people didn't know about him, they'd have to be absolutely clueless and live with their heads in a hole. While history is important - indeed, I'm a history student - it's not quite as important as having a basic grasp of the world around you.

	Just to point out that officially the term "Prime Minister" was not used until Bannerman's term of office - prior to that they were all "First Lord of the Treasury" which is still true today (QI fans would know this anyway)- does this invalidate the answers before 1905?

	If Wellesley was accepted for the Duke of Wellington then the surnames of all the other Dukes, Earls and Marquises would also have to be accepted. While that wouldn't really be difficult almost all of them are better known by their title.

	@quiteinteresting. This quiz is a list of the Prime Ministers of the UK. Despite what you say is technically correct, the postition of First Lord of the Treasury was one which we would recognise as the same as Prime Minister. The first "de facto" Prime Minister was in 1721 - even QI recognises that.

	actually QI is wrong, Asquith was officially the first prime minister, Although prime minister was used as a slang term in the media, walpole and other mp's considered it an insult. So this should be "can you name all the "First Lords of the Treasury"

	@ministead. If you're going to be pedantic about it then I will correct you in saying the first Prime Minister was actually Henry Campbell-Bannerman (who preceded Asquith). This quiz should not be "can you name all the 'First Lords of the Treasury'" as before Campbell-Bannerman not all of the First Lords of the Treasury are considered as the "Prime Minister" by us (e.g. Earl of Iddesleigh who was given the position by Salisbury). Furthermore, the position of First Lord of the Treasury came about in 1714 with Earl of Halifax taking the title - about 7 years before Walpole was considered Prime Minister (despite him holding the role before, in 1715), this quiz does not account for these and 3 other people who held the position before 1721. I agree this is a confusing topic and there are probably debates that we can go into as to when the prime minister role emerged, but for simplicity accepting the "de facto" list as shown here must be acceptable considering Walpole in 1721 and his predecessors were all regarded as "Prime Minister" despite the title not officially existing. Sorry for the essay.
