Is it weird that I expected there to be way more ingredients in a Twinkie? Hurray for empty calorie, processed food that is absolutely delicious.

Contrary to popular belief Twinkies cannot survive a nuclear blast.

I was expecting this to be one of those quickie five or six item quizzes. That there are 28 ingredients is kind of horrifying.

@Mr. Negative: Au contraire. There's a twinkie factory in Natick that will provide the foundation of a post-apocalyptic civilization. At least until it's overrun by mutant octopi.

Wow, when I read the ingredients on a Twinkie a few days ago, I had no idea that it would help me on a Sporcle quiz. You never can tell!

Everyone who got them all cheated or works in a twinkie factory. That is a fact.

how come typing "corn starch" gets you both "corn starch" and "modified corn starch"...but typing "corn syrup" only gets you "corn syrup" and not "high fructose corn syrup"? seem inconsistent. that cost me an answer Sporcle Gods! Also kicking myself for missing water and salt...could've had me 13/28.

I can't believe I missed corn syrup solids. I guessed every other form of sugar that there is. ;-( I also can't believe I missed "water".

still
got the Family Guy reference in Ernest's post. It's weird which things travel across the pond and which things don't...

@Ernest: The Natick twinkie factory will be overrun by *octopodes*. ("Octopus" is from the Greek; changing "-us" to "-i" in the plural is done on Latin words.)

Animal shortening, nice. Just looked it up and found that it's "hog's fat melted and strained from the tissues." I'll have to break it to my vegetarian sister that she needs to lay off the Twinkies.
