Pretty sure Sally Field was in "The Flying Nun" and not "The Flying Num." "Flying Numb" would probably be a better show, though.

How is er (1994) series 1 will E/R (1984, ten years earlier) is series 2? I know it's just arguing semantics, but that struck me as funny.

As I pointed out when I submitted this quiz, the only regular character (of 8) from The MTM Show who
didn't
go on to star in a series of their own was Georgia Engel, who played Georgette. At least she hasn't... so far. She was recently a semi-regular on Everybody Loves Raymond.
@elDavo:
E/R from 1984 was a comedy series starring Eliott Gould on CBS. Clooney had a supporting role as a doctor, but not the same one he played on ER. The naming was coincidental. It's not the only time that's happened on TV. There was a short-lived 1979 series about 3 kids under 12 called Friends that starred Jill Whelan who went on to do The Love Boat.

@rockgolf: elDavo's point is that the 1984 series should be listed as series 1, and the 1994 series should be listed as series 2. Right now they're in the wrong order.

14/26 means I watch too much TV, but not enought to get me to 100%. And David CAruso can star in a bazillion series but he still can't act.

Meant to say "while" not "will". I suppose that does make it harder to understand what I meant.

in the comedy E/R George Clooney played a police officer not a doctor.

Also if you wanted George Clooney, "Sisters" or "Roseanne" or "Facts of Life " would have been better clues. (Unless you wanted to highlight that he was in two shows with the same title,)

Anyone else have trouble spelling Gavin MacLeod? And then again, "Tia" was acceptable for Tia Mowry, whose surname I actually knew how to spell.

Yeah, Jared, I tried mcleod,macleod, macloud, mccloud, & even yelled "Morrie! Mr Grant, Help!" The only consolation is that in the gaelic it's probably spelled Mahc Caioughuyylldd. (OK, the double l's & d's are Welsh, but I can't pronounce or spell any of them.

See this http://www.scotchat.org/help/faq_qanda.php?id=63 for an explanation of why we 'Muricanz have difficulty withspelling & pronouncing Scottish names, to say nothing of why we can't find these ancestors when trying to do one's genealogy. I also found a link that claimed that the name MacLeod means "son of ugly," but that seemed sssssssssssoooooooooooo strange that I just left it.

@rockgolf...Engel played the Athletic Director's wife on Coach. Her character was very similiar to the one she played on MTM...an airhead. Oddly, both shows were set in Minnesota and Ted Knight was dead by then, so it could have been (but wasn't) the same character.

@musegal:
Everyone
in St Elsewhere was great. You could almost do a TV commonalities of people who passed thru the show. Harmon's character was the first in prime time to get AIDS as I recall, and caught it from a woman. That broke a lot of popular myths at the time.
@Oru: I just tried Hall and it worked. (Sounds like a lozenge commercial, doesn't it?)
@janiac: Step By Step - another commonality goldmine.
@Jared: "Tia" I allowed as an answer without the last name because she was original known as one half of twins, like Mary-Kate and Ashley.
@cocky: Yeah, Engel's been on a few shows, but never a lead character.

Yeah, I didn't see the word "lead" in your first post until after I made mine. She probably couldn't carry a lead role. I saw an interview with Ed Asner and he said she was as ditzy as her character.

@chumley and @Chianerd, You're both wrong. In E/R Clooney played an orderly. The police officer was played by Bruce Young. The EMT was played by Jeff Doucette.

@springmom: Little House would certainly have worked as well. I don't know that it would have affected the answer rate much.
@Isstvan: Upon even
further
research, George Clooney's role in the 1st E/R was that of Peggy "Hot Legs" O'Hallaran, the nurse that patients adored and doctors craved. It seems there's no role Clooney can't play. ;-)

Sure. Valerie Harper went on to Rhoda and Valerie. Cloris Leachman spun off into Phyllis. Ed Asner went on to Lou Grant, Thunder Alley, and just about every superhero cartoon since 1980, and of course Mary herself went on to Mary, Annie McGwire, & The Mary Tyler Moore Hour. Satisfied?
