Hang on. There's only one brown category: it's called `Something and Something Else'. Likewise for green and orange. There are six categories, not nine.

Yeah, I don't like how this is laid out. There should only be six answers, and (for example) "sports" or "leisure" should both be accepted for the orange wedge, with the proper answer being "Sports & leisure".

It figures that I couldn't remember the green categories...I always miss those when I play the game too!

9/9. I like that you broke up the categories. Nice touch.

I don't care if the layout of this quiz is weird. It was the first quiz for ages I've got 100%. 9 out of 9. Every answer correct!
Do I get a cheese?

I don't know about in the US, but ove in the UK, there are different names for them in the original version. If I remember correctly, Yellow is Yesterdays, Pink is Good Times and I think Blue is Places. Not that it made much difference - 9/9.

@kicking: I'd prefer to have to type both halves to get the category. That would also have the benefit of allowing the British version `Sport and Leisure' without confusing the American audience by having `Sports' pop up before they type the final s.

@Zalx: I think those category names are from the Family Edition.

@Zalx. I believe these
are
the original names for the categories but newer versions have tried renaming them. The 20th Anniversary edition I own, for example, has Global View, Sound & Screen, News, Written Word, Innovations, and Game Time.

My understanding is the original categories were combined in both UK and US versions. I've owned a lot of TP sets and it's always "Sports and Leisure" or "Science and Nature". You should have to enter both for the quiz. It's not like if you're playing you can go to the Sports space if you're up on basketball, but not so well versed in lawn darts.

@ Cuthbert Twilley - I'm with you! In one of the new versions, the category has become sports and games. If I could choose, I would always head to games. I can tell you the colors in Connect 4 or the number range in BINGO, but I will never be able to tell you which team has won the most Superbowls...

@Evan: Huh? Are you trying to imply that I spend a lot of time voting down other people's posts? For the record, I don't (I've voted more up than down so far on this quiz) but, even if I did sit here clicking on the red arrow, you'd have no way of knowing.

Six of these are also categories on Sporcle! Should it maybe say which edition is used (Genus if I'm not mistaken)? Or is this one widely accepted as the default?

Nice. One of the first quizzes I've got 100% on. And i'd like a cheese too - the pink one please, as i can never get the answer to any of those 1950/60s entertainment questions.

I'm amazed that people are complaining about it being broken up. It provided more of a challenge, which I loved. Just enjoy it. It's a game!

@davidr: Hence the question if it should specify and say "Genus edition" instead, as "original version" is not an official name.

Should make a quiz with all the TP versions categories. That would be hard.

That may be true, but still you are spending it on pointing out someone's supposed impopularity. Someone who contributed a lot of good quizzes for you to enjoy here, no less. Don't you think that's a bit uncalled for?

@BigThing: It wouldn't hurt to say "Genus edition" and, sure, "original version" isn't the official name but it is unambiguous. There was only one first version of TP.

@BTWHII: Nah, not uncalled for...his quizzes, for the most part, are fine and I enjoy them. I've complimented him for them on several occasions. But that has nothing to do with his comments, which I find (most of the time) to be annoying and pompous. And I was just pointing out that I am not the only one with that opinion...

One minor comment - the colo(u)rs on the answer page are a mixture of names and codes, which is odd.
More importantly, please can "SPORT"
singular
be accepted for us English folk?

Im sticking up for davidr! I don't think Ive seen him make an ivalid point on this site as of yet. He picks out some specific minute details on things, but surely if you are here, then you are the kind of trivia buff who enjoys that kind of thing!
