What timing! When I clicked through to here the quiz had only been taken twice. It's interesting seeing how weird the stats look with so few datapoints (spoilers in image): http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/9499/statsyzu.png

Ok, so they may have faltered a bit with putting a Nirvana song as number one but they made up by having Jeff Buckley on the list.

Pretty weird and random order, although its nice to see a top 100 list that finally gives respect to the genius that is Bohemian Rhapsody, instead of the bogus #163 Rolling Stone gives it.

Woah, I mind-blanked big time on those. If you're going to put a Hunters & Collectors' song on a Top 100 list it should be Holy Grail.

I think Australia needs to stop playing Guitar Hero 3. But this list is still better than Rolling Stone's.

For those that don't know, Triple J is Australia's national youth station, almost all their listeners are teenagers hence so many indie bands or alternative bands are included. Good to see still had to taste to vote for so many legendary artists, as well as so many of our Aussie classics.

Surprising so few people are getting the Australian classic by Midnight Oil. That was a huge hit well outside Australia.

Gotta say, Australia's list is much better than any American list I've ever seen. Any love for Muse is awesome, plaus Midnight Oil and Radiohead respect. Jolly good Sheilas!

a lot of artists whose songs I know, but not the songs I would have expected. Beatles, Tool (no Sober), Pearl Jam (no Jeremy), Rolling Stones (no Satisfaction, Brown Sugar), etc. Other than the Jeff Buckley, Masssive Attack and Radiohead, I guess Australian teens have pretty good taste in music though.

I don't entirely agree with the order, but I'm a big fan of the majority of songs on this list. I agree with you jtrichey, definitely one of the better top 100's I've seen.

I guess I disagree with the majority of Aussies and their choices for top 100 songs. Jeff Buckley and Radiohead are on there way too much! No Doors or Alice in Chains, and way too little from Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

Wow, these kids know their music! Everything on this list is either very good or highly influential. (For those hating on the #1 song, even if you don't like it, you've got to respect that song changed the music scene forever) I think I'm going to have to make a top 100 aussie songs playlist now...

Apparently the youth in Australia have some sort of allergy to music made by women.

After the countdown (which is a really popular event in Australia) completed a lot of people commented on the lack of women. But to be honest, it's an alternative music station and I personally couldn't think of a woman who deserved to be on that list (keeping in mind pop music is not popular with this crowd, pun intended). For anyone who wants to listen to this station, you can listen to it on triplej.abc.net.au

Oh by the way - thank's so much for this quiz! I loved it. Although minor technicality - I think 91 was Hell's Bells (off the back in black album).

Well, it is for an alternative radio station. It was nice to have the all time format again and good to see some more recent stuff in there. The 3 original ones (89,90,91) whilst being good, all felt like the same list each year. (and c'mon, 9 cure songs in one list (91)does smell of over representation)Mind you, how the Hilltop Hoods wind up at #17 on an all time list is beyond me....

I think I agree with about 99% of the bands on here, but a couple of the song choices strike me as a little bizarre. I mean, are #'s 8 and 24 really the best songs for those bands?

While this list wasn't bad (I like most of the songs), it seems incredibly shortsighted (as tends to happen with user-generated lists). They seriously put Sex on Fire ahead of Back in Black (which is by an Australian band)? They put Float On ahead of Superstition?

Only 70/100 and I listend to the whole, awsome countdown. I'd like to note that jjj is an alt. station aimed at 15-30 year olds and alot of those listners grew up listning to radiohead and the smashing pumpkins. I'd like to reccomed augie march's One Crowded Hour to you all, amazing song that gets better every time you listen to it. Shame to see only 1.4% of people getting it. Also Sex on Fire was inevitable, theres always one or two songs that were popular at the time and will soon be obliterated from memory (thankfully).

Also the majority of jjj listners are 20 - 35 years old not teenagers, which explains alot of the older music.

Seeing as their Australian I expected more AC/DC than just two songs! And I would've expected Highway to Hell too! But some pleasent suprises there - especially Nirvana, Kings Of Leon and Queens of the Stone age :)
