It's always surprising to me that Pokemon outsold Tetris for the Game Boy. Then again, I'm also surprised that a Pokemon quiz is in Sporcle's top 20.

Guessing "Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Super Smash Bros."--so close, yet so far away.

Wasn't Wii Sports packaged with Wii? By extension, the most popular PC game should be Minesweeper.

"Sports" should work for "Wii Sports". Wii is already given as the platform.

I don't agree booger, it says wii sports right on the disc. otherwise it could be any kind of sports.

Why do you have to specify a color for the original Pokemon? Mario 64 should be accepted. For some reason I typed Super Smash Brothers Melee and it didn't accept it... it requires the "Bros." - seriously??

@ dtownstomp: The reason why you have to specify the colour of the game is because there are also Pokemon Crystal and Yellow (which vary by Red and Blue by some degree), as well as a Pokemon Pinball which all came out for the Game boy at different times. Not sure why the did Red/Green though, since Green is a remake of Blue for the Gambe boy advance platform and not for the Game boy.

@ puse and rockgolf - Wii Sports wasn't packaged with any of the Japanese Wiis. However, if only the Japanese sales of Wii Sports were counted, you're right that a different game would probably have that spot.

@ Dancinganimal - The Japanese versions of the original Game Boy Pokemon games were Red and Green. The other regions were the ones that got Red and Blue. So when they were remade for the GBA, they used the original Japanese title (Red and Green) to do it.

Yeah I dont like that Wii Sports is considered the best selling Wii game... but it is. I also cant believe Nintendogs is the best selling DS game. I almost guessed that as a joke.

I don't mind Wii Sports being #1. It was the first one I guessed. I think I would have a problem with it if everyone owned it and nobody played it, but it has to be the most played as well.

so everyone has an issue with wii sports but not mario 64, mario world, or mario bros? all of which were also packaged with their respective systems? That is why Mario is always the top selling game. It is virtually always packaged with the system. Also, I guess sonic and tails, but i guess that wasn't the official title of sonic 2?

I got all the Nintendo ones, but that's it. Surprised Pokemon Diamond/Pearl wasn't the DS one, considering the handheld pattern there.

you know why they call it xbox360? because after you buy one you want to turn 360 degrees and return it.

That makes no sense. a 360 degree turn would put you facing the same way you started. Unless you were already facing the store when you made the decision to spin in a circle

1. Set oven to 360°.
2. Insert XBOX.
3. Cook for one hour, basting frequently.
4. Remove from oven and allow 10 minutes to cool.

I guess I'm the only one not surprised at Nintendogs, for a couple of reasons: 1)Nintendo DS has a young and largely female target demographic, and 2)Nintendogs was one of the very first games available for the system, and there are several different versions of the game (and a lot of people purchased more than one). It still sucked though.

@Sporcle, Pokemon yellow is the third of the trio for Pokemon Red/Blue, not Green. There are games called FireRed and LeafGreen, but for the GameBoy Advance that were remakes of Red/Blue.
