Ah... I got all of the regular ones, but I wasn't aware that diet versions counted as an entirely different version and thus kept using other drinks I knew until time was out.

The Diets tricked me. I just assumed that they were going to be part of the main one. "Diet Coke" would have counted for "Coke." And by the way, what is Fanta?

I had no idea that Mountain Dew was so popular. You never really hear about it in Canada, at least that I've noticed.

#10 is sneaky... would have expected the main brand to have been more popular. @GeoExpert: Fanta is a fruit-flavored soda. Most popular variety is orange from what I can see, but it's available in a few others.

Those diet ones are truly sinister. I also thought mountain dew was pretty high up for a beverage that DOESN'T TASTE GOOD.

Fanta? Really? And of course there's a Diet Mountain Dew; it's my early morning class fuel.

I think they legally changed the name to Mtn Dew. Maybe that goes into effect in the 2009 quiz, I don't know.

I hate all carbonated drinks. Sorry. It just hurts my throat like crazy going down, and when I need a drink I do so because I'm thirsty and I want to be refreshed. It's supposed to be pleasurable, not painful. Give me juice!

Fanta? Darn it. I totally thought it was 7Up or something, and kept trying different ways to type it. Rats.

Pretty cool quiz, kind of surprised Sierra Mist wasn't on this list, which in my opinion is better than Sprite

Got desperate and tried Perrier, knowing that it was carbonated. Missed Diet Dr. and Diet Mt. Dew.

I was thinking and saw the can of Diet Coke sitting right next to me and wondered, "Nawww, would they really?" before trying it. Glad I did.

Good quiz, though I took half the time before I even thought to use the diet ones. Never been a fan of colas or diet sodas, but I do like Mountain (I refuse to put "MTN") Dew, Sprite, and Fanta, especially Fanta Grape.

@SRG That's probably because Mountain Dew in the states has the most caffeine and in Canada it's caffeine free from what I can tell.

Is beer not a carbonated beverage? cause I'm pretty sure they sell more bud light then diet dr pepper or fanta.

@nhrafan for a while, Slurm was actually number one by far, but after people found out it was really just the excrement of a giant slug, they got turned off. I still find it addictingly delicious

I don't think Fanta should've counted cause it's the brand--there's different flavors like Coke and Diet Coke...but whatever, it's still painfully-sugary goodness.

Is there a source for this list? Not that I think its false, I just thought energy drinks had made enough of a come back to make this list (Red Bull and Monster, at the very least). Thought I read a similar list somewhere with those on it...Oh well. I'd like to see what made the Top 20.

I actually got the diet ones out of desperation since i couldn't think of anything else. Missed Fanta of all things... didn't see that one coming. It must be bigger in other areas because it barely exists in the Seattle area.

Diet soda is so bad here in US. At least they are using Splenda in some now, tastes a lil better. I also expected diets to be included, maybe make it more clear. Once I tried one though I got them all, and there's plenty of time to spend figuring that out. Fanta surprised me too! I randomly guessed it, didn't think it'd actually be there! :)

While Fanta technically comes in different flavors in the US, I'm guessing that the Fanta on this list is just the orange flavor. The others are called "Fanta Grape" or "Fanta Pineapple" or whatever other flavors there are. Orange-flavored Fanta is simply called Fanta. The huge dropoff from the totals between number 7 and number 8 is interesting.

@Padoza: Huh? Fanta is the 8th biggest-selling soda in the US. That sounds like being big in North America to me.
