Great Quiz, but I don't know if it is 'The Talking Heads', or just 'Talking Heads.' Anyway, some good bands.

what is the source for this? I don't think of many of these bands as having "the" as part of their official name. Maybe it's just me.

Apologies on Talking Heads, we swapped that one out, otherwise, the source is from various places including amazon.com, billboard.com, and wikipedia.

None of `Bee Gees', `Grateful Dead', `Talking Heads', `Ramones' and `Sex Pistols' has a `The'. Also, The Go-Go's are hyphenated.

Yeah, Talking Heads has no "The" in front, I know that for sure. I think The Sex Pistols does, though. Also, strange song choice for The Cars. I would've picked either Just What I Needed or My Best Friend's Girl, seeing as those are their most known/popular songs, but I still got it with the one you chose anyway.

How is The Velvet Underground one of the least known bands? Anyway, some strange song choices, but fun quiz.

Way too many classics missing. The Drifters, The Carpenters, The Turtles, The Eagles, The Fleetwoods, The Supremes, The Four Tops, The Cowsills, The Righteous Brothers... you can't include everything, but surely some of these should have been in there.

@mattrd08: With the exception of `Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols', not a single Sex Pistols album has `The Sex Pistols' written on the cover.

Ah, if the clue for the Kinks was "Lola" I'd have gotten it. Still did fairly decently though.

"Don't Get Me Wrong" is by The Pretenders, not The Tokens. Other than that, a very nice quiz!

agree with those comments on Don't Get Me Wrong, definitely the Pretenders. I claim 24 rather than the 23 I've been given!

At the moment you have "The Tokens" as the answer for both "The Lions Sleeps Tonight" (sic) and "Don't Get Me Wrong", which is clearly by The Pretenders. I aborted the quiz when I got sick of typing the latter, and Google then confirmed that there wasn't another song of that name. Sort it out please!
In other news, shame you didn't have "The The" in it after all, even as a bonus answer it would have been fun.

Pretty sure Smashing Pumpkins doesn't have a "the" either... but they sucked so who really cares. How bout some love for The Outfield, they sing the best 80's song of all time.

@Jason: I know they did...hence the words "after all" in my post. I think it would have been more fun if they'd not mentioned them (well, him), and kept it for a bonus answer.
I see "Pretenders" now works, anyway, even if there's still more than one lion. :-)

Brain in gear. Should've named The bands, rather than try to work out from the songs. That's my excuse for missing very very obvious classic bands. Oh dear.

I am unconvinced about 'The' Velvet Underground. Especially as they are often known just as VU nowadays. Still, good quiz, and as a VU fan since about 1970 I am ashamed to say I missed them.

@TallKool1: I'm looking at the complete discography of The Verve Pipe, all the way back to the original version of I've Suffered A Head Injury, and they are certainly "The" Verve Pipe. Sorry, I'm not truly obsessed, those guys are from my village. @onetheta: Since your comment came up, I checked the self-titled record, and they are "The" Velvet Underground there.

There is also a song called 'Sweet Jane' by the Cowboy Junkies, so I kept trying that one...but I just googled it and evidently they don't officially have a 'The'. Oh well.

Please forgive me, but I do think that, while their names may technically lack the "the" suffix, the Eagles, the Scorpions, and the Supremes should be here; they were/are fine groups, and I'm certain that I wasn't the only one expecting them. They could at least be featured as bonus answers.

To the people who didn't like King Latifah's previous comment: Watch the music video from 'Still Waiting', maybe then you'd understand and put your thumbs up.
