At some points in the 19th Century, players were also credited with SB for taking an extra base on a hit (going 1st to 3rd on a single). So the totals for Hamilton, Tiernan, Long are a bit inflated.

It has to be mentioned that this is COMBINED team history, ex Washington Senators+Minnesota Twins, Montreal Expos+Washington Nationals. It really screwed me up not knowing that. With that having been said, I think it would have been more fun to not use combined history.

@breamj: The 635 total for the Nationals should be a giveaway that the Expos records are included. Nobody's gotten that many in the three or four years they've been in Washington.

i only got 20/30 but none of the 10 i missed made me slap myself and say "agh! i KNEW that!" great quiz! The father and son are fun, as well as one guy having the record for two teams

I was using it as an example...yeah that one is obvious, but considering I went from team to team trying to guess the answer, not knowing that its combined team history, until the very last one gave it away. I was stuck guessing guys like Brady Anderson and Chuck Knoblauch.

The Mets entry is incorrect. A current Mets player broke the record last September, and by the time his career is done, it will be a much, much higher number.

Isn't it sort of the sporcle way to identify the active players with an asterik?

The Mets Entry is very wrong. Jose Reyes has 290 career stolen bases and broke Mookie Wilson's record last year. I have season tickets to them, I specifically remember watching him breaking the record

i'm surprised that craig biggio never broke the astros record. also, tampa bay's total is impressive considering the short history of the franchise. their leader is a really consistent, productive player.

Tobin Williamson: Gwynn could steal early in his career including 57 stolen bases in 1987 when he was 27. Seeing him now, I understand why that would be very surprising. And pat, yeah he is very impressive, as a Red Sox fan who sees the Rays quite a lot over the years, he was one of the only players I really feared on the team (a few others were added to the list last year).

As a Phillies fan, your team has such a terrible history you should have a better grasp of those few bright moments from the past. Hamilton has the record for runs scored in a season and is one of the top 10 center fielders of all time.

The answer for the Reds is wrong. Morgan stole 689 bases in his career but only 406 were as a Red. The rest with the Astros, Giants and A's. A different Hall of Famer has 568 steals as a Red.

@Biggtone23: Sorry about that, it's been fixed. I originally had the guy with 568 steals but I ended up with conflicting sources and changed it. But now we went back to the right guy with 568 steals.

Well you would think the lowest totals would be the Dbacks or rays because they have been around the shortest amount of time..I am surprised the rangers in there 40 year history havn't had anybody steal as many as 200 bases for the team.

Good grief, how did I miss Jose Reyes? Tried Mookie Wilson, Strawberry and Dykstra, but no Reyes. Also surprised me that Biggio wasn't the leader for the Astros.

Good quiz! Tickled that Bid McPhee (who?) came up when I typed in Morgan, loved seeing Bump Wills' name again, and never heard of those bottom four guys, so, very educational as well!
