| Speaking for John: Pete Rose was certainly a very good player, and Hall worthy without the ethics breach. But a lot of his stats, including his hit totals, were amassed due to him playing many years beyond when he was a great asset. Rose had about a half-dozen great years, with many decent ones. Nearly every year Musial played he had an amazing year, and was way more valuable. Of course, I don't know the qualifications of being all-century, but if you asked me to take one of those three players, I'd take Musial every time, all else being equal. |
