| @ Antithesyes, In addition to what ChipTaco said, spring training is an opportunity for teams to expand their fan base to other areas of the country, and for those three teams other areas of the state. It is especially important for those three teams because while it is unlikely that someone in, say, Dunedin would root for the Blue Jays someone in Port Charlotte is much more likely to root for the Rays if they play their spring training games there,especially because while Port Charlotte is closer to Tampa it is still close enough to Miami for there to probably be a significant minority of Marlins fans. |
