pollo is the meat, not the animal. should be gallo and gallina. Cabron is a male goat. That should be acceptable too.

I agree with acceptating cabrón as a goat :P By the way, the use of article in every word is so annoying.

I only got the horse, because I used to be friends with this Honduran girl who was obsessed with Equestrianism. I should've gotten more. I know all the animals in French (hint hint) and I was trying to take the French word and make it sound Spanish. Guess I failed horribly.

I lived in Argentina for two years, so I knew them all except moose and raccoon. Not very many of those down there.

This could have worked better the opposite way round... as in converting spanish into english. Gives a chance for those who don't know any spanish at least a guess.

Lotsa fun. I totally blanked on cabra. Also blanked on zorro y burro, but I'm a little less bummed about that. I kept putting in cochon for pig?? That's not an alternate? Learned something new with el alce y el mapache!

@smartart11: It is a false cognate. Pájaro may sound closest to parrot, but it is indeed the Spanish word for bird. Could there be other regionalisms? Probably, but that's what it means. Parrot, if I recall correctly, is "loro" (amazing how much Spanish I remember when I haven't even had to use it for over 6 years).

@tank: You used the incorrect word for "is" - there are two ways to use it in Spanish, 'es' and 'está'. The correct form in this case would be 'es'. Also, I don't think 'concurso' would be the correct word for quiz in this case. 'Concurso' means more like competition or game show. Many Spanish speakers actually use the English word 'quiz', or you could use prueba or examen (but this is more like a school quiz).

@ Dawn and Kenneth: there is a song: pollito chicken, gallina hen....and so on, so pollo is not only for poultry, it can be the baby chicken.... gallo is rooster; and for those who like the word cabron for goat, cabron can be a curse word (use like when american call someone "the one that likes to have sex with their own mother")... but not in all Spanish speaking countries.

The title of the quiz needs to be changed to male animals because those are the only forms it appears to accept. For example, "gata" means cat, just as much as "gato" does, but it's not an acceptable answer. Either all the female forms need to be added or the title of the quiz needs to be changed.

actually in spanish we call pollo the gallina and the gallo as well, it's a generic term, so for chicken I guess it's acceptable pollo and gallo. Well not gallo maybe, if you say it's rooster, then it would only be acceptable pollo and gallina. and yes asno would be acceptable
