Out of context, some of those titles sound a little naughty:
Sixteen Going On Seventeen? The Lonely Goatherd?

I didn't honestly know the songs had titles. Still managed to get two by just appealing to logic and frankly could have reasonably gotten more.

I knew all of them but didn't know the correct 'titles'. Tried all combinations for 'Maria' (like 'How do you solve a problem', 'Problem like Maria' etc) but didn't get it! Same for 'Sixteen going on Seventeen'. Still a great quiz though!

♫♪ Lyrics of pop songs and Football League Cup wins // Naming the territories that are Britain's // Difficult quizzes about Swedish kings // These are a few of my favorite things ♫♪

I've seen that movie a million times yet could only remember half of the songs. I kept typing the longer titles though.

Jordan 117- great future ahead of you once you straighten out the 2nd line! Fun quiz, but always wondered why they stuck the extra couplesongs into the movie-- I Have Confidence is so-so & Something Good is just a dog!

@ MovieDynamic: I hope you mean the second line, and you're wrong. Sing one syllable per note and you'll get it. There are 11 syllables in each of the first two lines, and 10 in each of the last two lines. That's right.

Okay I can see what you mean, only if you put the emphasis on the backside of "territories." But it doesn't sound very natural.

But the "Difficult quizzes about Swedish Kings// These are a few of my favorite things!" is priceless. And will be sung the next time I play "Encore," along with a previous revision that occurred when we needed a song with the word "farm," hence, "Farm every mountain, weed every row, follow every fencepost, 'til you find your hoe."

Jordan 117 and Steeltown: our next Rogers and Hammerstein. Fondness of a half-century-old musical still sparks creativity. Don't think "Chicago" would do that!

I was surprised by which ones I forgot. My Favorite Things, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, and Something Good. I'm really kicking myself lol. It would also be nice if the directions of the quiz not only said no instruementals, but also no reprises. Then again, maybe it was obvious and I'm the only one who tried to write them in.

having the songbook really helped with knowing the titles, otherwise I probably would have had an issue with "sixteen going on seventeen" and "maria" as well. oh and to the "my favorite things" parody, just add the word "great" in front of Britain, and it'll all work out fine. :)

I got them all. Of course, I grew up thinking "Do-Re-Mi" was called "Doe, a Deer". I really couldn't remember the exact title of "Something Good", but I had time to try a few combinations. Funny thing is the last one I remembered was "The Lonely Goatherd" and I dressed as the Lonely Goatherd at "Sing-Along Sound of Music" several years ago.

The stage version has some songs different from the film version. That threw me a bit, coz I was involved a production of this, and was surprised when some of them weren't there! Moral: Read the quiz title carefully!!!

@jordan117: You'll keep the right meter on the 2nd line if you change it to "All of the colonies that once were Britain's".

A WWS one would be fun. My school just put on this show recently, and there a few songs in the actual play that are not in the movie version, so I tried all kinds of combinations of those. 'How Can Love Survive' I believe is one, and I think it should as least count as a bonus...

Fun quiz. 7/11 is okay, but could have gotten two more. Haven't seen the movie in ages though. Naturally next up should be Mary Poppins songs :-)

What about the cuckoo song that they sang at the festival? Was that part of another song? And go you, Asdfaeou. I'm in the same boat, but I got hung up on the titles.

ishowell, that's "So Long, Farewell"--they first sing it at the party given for the Baroness, and then later sing it as they escape from the festival.

My favorite movie of all time. Missed Something Good, but that's okay. Own the soundtrack, the movie, and Charmian Carr's (Liesel) book on making the film.

Ahh! Got 'em all but Edelweiss. I kept trying adelweiss or aidelweiss. The Sound of Music is truly a timeless film. I loved it as a child, a teen, and now as a college student, it is still one of my favorite films of all time.
