Knowing 4 people got me well over half the answers, without resorting to guessing common last names. I'll take it.

Normally I don't complain about the quizzes, but come on Sporcle. The percentage of your user base that cares about snooker must be infinitesimal.

Once the Brits wake up people will start to do well on the quiz. I barely ever watch snooker and I know a few names. These are mostly legends in the sport. Far, far easier than bingo calls, etc.

Looking at the distribution of answers so far, it's pretty clear most people are just guessing surnames. In Britain, it's almost impossible not to know something about snooker; its on TV for weeks on end.

Thanks, Sporcle. I'd considered submitting this quiz myself but I figured nobody would be interested. Looks like I was right but it's good to see it, anyway. (And, gaaaaaah. I got most of them but couldn't think of the common-surnamed one, even though he lived in the town I was born in.)

I for one think it's good to have diversity: quizzes that apply to a diverse *audience* for one, but you also need to have quizzes that are specialised, and these should have as diverse a *range* as possible.

The Snooker World Championships moved to the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield in 1977, so there aren't any pre-1977 Crucible champions... Two I knew but couldn't spell, and another I could only remember his first name!

Should I be ashamed of acing this one?!.....and dare I also admit to being a bit of a snooker fan...I even played the 1985 champion once!...an exhibition match and only the one frame...I only got the table twice! - and one of those was 'cos he let me break!

@onetheta: there are a lot of really good snooker players from china, a few from australia ... not so many from america though, especially in the top ranking, that's true.
but then again, there are world championchips in curling, too ...

I never understand why people play a quiz, and then complain about how they don't find the subject interesting. I don't go into Starbucks and complain that I don't like coffee.

This quiz makes up for all the baseball quizzes I have no clue about! onethatta: There are actually very talented players from Asia, including Ding Junhui, Marco Fu and in the past, James Wattana. And my favourite player, Neil Robertson, is from Australia.

@BrettCaudill: I think 'payback' is a poor way of terming it, but yeah. For every periodic table of the elements quiz or countries of Asia quiz or anything else that anyone anywhere can conceivably be interested in, there are probably ten quizzes with limited appeal. Most of those "limited appeal" quizzes are geared to Americans, because I imagine most of the users of this site are Americans, but of course there will be "limited appeal" quizzes for others.

Great quiz Sporcle! To anyone complaining, at least outside of the USA there is plenty of divesity here. There are far more people likely to guess Hendry or Davis than to guess an Incubus album or a party member from Final Fantasy 7.

Good quiz, way better than all those American College Sports ones that no one outside the USA could care less about. Snooker is a worldwide sport these days and over the years there has been a number of participants from China, Thailand, Malta, Canada and Australia. So there can be no complaints that it's a British only sport.
