@arlen: Positive? Absolutely not. Accurate? I think that is up for debate. They aren't the first instances where he has accused of:
a.) Deliberately seeking roles that are slam dunks as far as award nominations
b.) Using his political advocacy as a chance for self-promotion
Now yes, you can't believe everything you hear. However, I do have two friends who were at separate anti-war demonstrations with him involved. They both indicated that he would essentially hunt out where the media was and drift over into those places. One of them claimed that he completely blew off people who just basically wanted to meet him in favor of going out of his way to pal around with the "important" people.
Nonetheless, I think he is a very good actor, but one who is greatly overrated. At times his delivery feels very forced to me and his performances lack the subtle little nuances that separate the greatest actors from the good ones. |
