So True Old Kent, But we are all human, we make mistakes :)
Jun 6th, 2009 at 05:00 GMT
But I could have sworn Don Cheadle starred in "Hollaback Girl."
Jun 6th, 2009 at 05:04 GMT
Unexpectedly challenging! Great quiz! Sequel!!!
Jun 6th, 2009 at 05:07 GMT
A lot tougher than I expected. Is there a better clue for "Crash" than Cheadle? I think of that as more of a Matt Dillon movie, but that's just me.
Jun 6th, 2009 at 05:20 GMT
Maybe it's just my UVA roots, but wouldn't Dave Matthews make for sense than Gwen Stefani as a clue for "Crash"?
Jun 6th, 2009 at 05:27 GMT
I don't mean to nitpick, but the Roy Orbison song is actually "Oh, Pretty Woman". Maybe accept that too?
Jun 6th, 2009 at 05:27 GMT
johnlk, being a huge Dave fan myself i would love to agree with you, but the name of the song is technically "Crash into Me."
Jun 6th, 2009 at 05:42 GMT
Great idea for a quiz. I had fun!

rod stewart/mel gibson: forever young
Jun 6th, 2009 at 06:34 GMT
Fun quiz, and I'm SO glad to see "My Best Friend's Girl" on here, one of my all-time favorite songs! Although the movie was definitely mediocre.
Jun 6th, 2009 at 06:39 GMT
I can't believe I missed Roxanne!Ugh!
Jun 6th, 2009 at 07:16 GMT
I suppose the Will Smith/Will Smith clue for Men in Black would be too obvious.

I thought of these while taking your quiz. Great job by the way. Independence day - Martina McBride and Will Smith What a girl wants - christina aguilera and mel gibson
Jun 6th, 2009 at 07:32 GMT
^^^^^^Mel Gibson stars in "What Women Want" not "What a Girl Wants"
Jun 6th, 2009 at 07:40 GMT
Im really surprised Dazed and Confused isn't on here.
Jun 6th, 2009 at 08:43 GMT
Ghost Rider, Rush and Cage? Rush never gets enough love..

Good but hard, like all the best Sporclisms
Jun 6th, 2009 at 09:44 GMT
Too young to know most of these...so dates might have helped but I had a good guess!
Jun 6th, 2009 at 10:05 GMT
There were only five in the whole thing where I had heard of both the song and the film. And the biggest gimme I could think of - Breakfast at Tiffanys - wasn't even there. Not a top quiz in my own humble opinion.
Jun 6th, 2009 at 10:07 GMT
What about Breakfast at Tiffany's? Plus I thought the song was 'Girls just wanna have fun'. That one upset me.
Jun 6th, 2009 at 12:09 GMT
When in doubt, spell it out.
Jun 6th, 2009 at 13:13 GMT
No love for the Grateful Dead? Brokedown Palace, Candyman....I know there are a few others (lesser known movies, slight variations such as "The...", etc.) Maybe look into a well known one for a sequel?
Jun 6th, 2009 at 13:20 GMT
@Dan- the same goes for Wild Wild West. LOL.
Jun 6th, 2009 at 13:45 GMT
cheesy movie but Hilary Swank and The Beatles - P.S. I Love You
Jun 6th, 2009 at 13:50 GMT
Very tough quiz but awesome idea.
Jun 6th, 2009 at 14:09 GMT
I agree with Snorkel. Oh, Pretty Woman and Pretty Woman are 2 different titles. There are loads of others you could include instead.
Jun 6th, 2009 at 15:01 GMT
Nice quiz, I had no idea there was so many. But I think they missed the biggest one. REM and Jim Carrey.
Jun 6th, 2009 at 17:10 GMT
I feel really bad... After seeing Whoopi Goldberg, my answer to 'also a Rolling Stones song' was Sister Act XD
Jun 6th, 2009 at 17:23 GMT
Yeah where's dazed and confused?
Jun 6th, 2009 at 17:34 GMT
wow Mel Gibson starred in a lot of movies where the title doubles up. I saw his name and the first movie that came to mind was Signs (Five Man Electrical Band/Tesla)
Jun 6th, 2009 at 19:29 GMT
@Dan I think Men In Black would go against the fourth qualifier that the song couldn't be expressly written for the movie...Wild Wild West could have been Kool Moe Dee/Will Smith but not Will Smith/Will Smith for the same reason Just out of curiousity, how many times did the song come after the movie?
Jun 6th, 2009 at 21:18 GMT
^^^ yeah. I didn't read that part, whoops. And the less said about the movie Wild Wild West is the better. That movie was terrible.
Jun 6th, 2009 at 21:55 GMT
Kool Moe Dee? Escape Club? But yes, the movie was terrible.
Jun 6th, 2009 at 22:15 GMT
Weird, I got 7, and could possibly have guessed 4 further ones if I'd had enough time, but the other 19, I haven't heard of at all - film OR song. Does this mean I get out too much or not enough?
Jun 7th, 2009 at 00:10 GMT
On almost all of these the song is older than the film. In a few of them e.g. Sweet Home Alabama, Stand By Me, American Pie, My Girl, Jumpin' Jack Flash the film is at least partly named after the song. Good quiz. As a Brit I might have got Bad Boys if the musical clue had been Wham!!

Gwen Stefani___Steve McQueen_____The Great Escape???
Jun 7th, 2009 at 12:35 GMT
When it says Gwen Stefani is Crash, was that song linked to the movie? Because I know at least one more other song called Crash that is more well known.

its not my fault sporcle hasn't heard of the temptations b-side release home alone
