i felt like an idiot when all i could remember were "gladiator" and "beautiful mind" - but then i saw i was in good company! i've actually seen several of these movies but didn't remember the characters' names - i think when you have a well-known actor in a movie, you just remember them as that actor ("there's russell crowe"), not as their character

Virtuosity is by far a movie everyone needs to see. Mainly because you're wondering why Denzel Washington chose to make this movie?

*blush* I'm sure Russell would be very proud to know I thought he was in 'A cinderella story' instead of 'Cinderella man' lol, don't know how that happened.

FYI: the 1992 film S******** also goes by an alternate title, at least my DVD says so.

Proof is a great film. Hugo Weaving stars as a blind photographer, and Crowe is his friend who describes his photographs to him. It has far more actual 'acting' than any of the big-budget blockbusters those two would go on to make in their careers.

Jamie: Yes, that one is also known as The Efficiency Expert. Mitch, you are soooooooooo right. Proof is an amazing film and truly highlights Russell's talent.

@Mitch: Weaving does a wonderful job with his delivery and body language in V for Vendetta. That was a good piece of acting. Also, just Master and Commander should work for the 2003 film.

I only got "Breaking Up" because there was a preview for it on my frequently-watched VHS of LA Confidential. And I totally forgot he was in Proof - that is really a good movie!

American gangster was a top film, one of crowe's finest IMO.

he's been in some truly awful movies masquerading as "great" "important" movies...but damn it, anytime i start to complain about him, i just remember L.A. Confidential and 3:10 to Yuma. and then i remind myself to blame the director (usually Ridley Scott, lol!).

So disappointed in myself for missing Mystery, Alaska - I love ice hockey and russell crowe, so that's pretty much heaven for me. Going to netflix RIGHT NOW to see if I can stream it.

"Blood Oath" was also released as "Prisoners of the Sun." RC has a very small role in it, but it's been re-released, and he's on the cover of the dvd - front and center!

@Yodas: Russell Crowe isn't in 300. You're thinking of Gerard Butler. :)
