	Just curious why you chose to use Baton Rouge for the Mississippi. There are many other larger cities (Minneapolis, St. Louis, Memphis, New Orleans) along the river. I'd even be okay with something like Hannibal, MO because of its notoriety with the river. But Baton Rouge?

	There's more than one Frankfurt in Germany so it seems a bit ambiguous to have it here. Spelling out Frankfurt am Main would make it too easy but there's plenty of other suitable cities in the area.

	Hmm. In Russian, the city of Moskva is on the banks of the Moskva river. Surely, then, in English, the city of Moscow is on the banks of the Moscow river?

	Quite a varied mix! This is great fun! My only minor quibbles are that, as already noted, Frankfurt could have a different answer; and I tried to put Moscow - but had to alter it to Moskva...but you don't allow Rhein instead of Rhine?...and just loved finding the Taff there!

	@neilbc: Cardiff is on the Severn Estuary, around the point where it becomes the Bristol Channel. I don't think that really counts as being part of the River Severn — it's very heavily tidal. On the other hand, Cardiff is indisputably on the Rivers Rhymney and Ely. (Confusingly, the city of Ely is on the Great Ouse.)

	@pete: Las Vegas is about thirty miles from Lake Mead, formed by the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River. But that's hardly being `on' a river. Am I missing something too?

	davidr: As a Russian speaker, if my understanding of Old Church Slavonic is correct, in the 12-13th centuries the official full city name was "gradъ Moskovъ" (lit. "town on the (river) Mosk(o)va", Moscova is still the French name of the river). This name was recorded by the Westerners (e.g. Eng. Moscow, Fr. Moscou) then, and stuck.

	Wondering how 7% of people managed to get the Taff in Cardiff, I didn't and I've been there. Now, when can I expect to see the Mole (my local river) added to this list? :D

	Actually Amsterdam is more on the IJ river, the Amstel is just a small stream compared to that. It should be an alternative answer.
