I really do know better, but I always seem to type America, as opposed to its more PC counterpart.

Quite a few of them; makes me realize how pretentious we Americans are for referring to our flag simply as "the Red, White, and Blue."

@ john, although i totally agree with you, sometimes Costa Rica's flag appears with its seal on the left side of the red stripe, which green and brown in it among other colors

I started just listing countries after I exhausted all the ones I could think of (which was about 10), which uncovered 2 bonuses - how many bonuses are there in this one?

@catenary: There are only two bonuses.

Perhaps you should post the flags as well instead of just making us guess them blind.

@Greeneyes: Calling the USA "the United States" isn't PC. It is the name of the country.

@Jatzel Roman: The Dominican Republic flag also has green, yellow, and black. All the answers for this quiz ONLY have red, white, and blue.

I though for sure Croatia and Slovenia would be on there... but on closer inspection it appears that they've got bits of other colors as well. Ran out of time with only Samoa left, but I doubt I would have gotten it anyway.

@John and geowiz85: The state flag of Costa Rica includes the country's coat of arms, which includes several other colours. There is a version of the flag without the arms but that one is flown only by Costa Rican merchant ships. Lots of countries fly different versions of their flags on ships but this quiz, like all Sporcle flag quizzes so far, is only about the state flags.

@Foxysmooth: You're correct in both cases but neither is a sovereign state. Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the USA and the Faroe Islands are an autonomous province of Denmark.

@johnJF. I dont know that its pretentious. The French call it "le bleu, blanc et rouge" too. But then, maybe that proves the point after all.

Republic of China should be either accepted for Taiwan, or replace Taiwan, as that is the country the flag actually belongs to.

Great quiz, but it seems I have absolutely terrible image recall. The French usually just call their flag "la tricolore" which is even more pretentious, since they don't even have the oldest of this type of flag.

Did you know that red, white and blue are the three least expensive colors to put on a flag?

16/22 Can't imagine I forgot Netherlands and Luxembourg... And I missed Taiwan, as usual... Backs_Gaby : we use "tricolore" as an adjective (which is masculin, by the way)... We were not first, but historically it is more representative for us than "Bleu, blanc, rouge"

@linus , 'author missed pretty much - Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia' No wonder the USA has been having problems with it's CIA . If they can't get the flag colours right ? what else are they screwing up ? In fairness howver those missed countries are still only 'apprentice ' .e fairly new countries in their own right .

@Mr_T : I just clicked on the link. Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia's flags all include little crests or coat-of-arms which include other colours. So Sporcle's right on this one!
