Nomar Garciaparra was traded halfway through the season, but was still awarded a ring for the world series...he could at least be a bonus.

No way do I believe that 15% of people can spell Mientkiewicz without cheating

Millar and Mientkiewicz should be switched, but good quiz.

I hate this team more than most of you could ever imagine. Screw being a Yankees fan--the Cardinals never had the lead in the entire World Series, the first of my lifetime. Though in totally objective fairness, if this quiz is to exist, so should the 05 White Sox, who broke a two year longer curse.

@JohnJF - Totally agree, white sox should have a quiz too, their streak was longer. And the cubs too if they ever break their streak, but I don't see it happening. F### the Cubs, go cards

Got everyone except Leskanic. Johnny Damon also wasn't traded, but is just a traitor.

Good quiz. Makes ya wonder though why a quiz for a sports team makes some people behave like 1st graders.

I really, really, really hated this team. And I see I was not alone. ... Agree that Millar should be listed as the 1B, as he started 2 games there. Mientkiewicz was a reserve in the Series.

As a Yankee fan, remembering this was tough in more way than one. Still got 19, can't believe I missed Schill.

Wow, a lot of haters here. Well I at least enjoyed this quiz - but then again, not only can I name all 25 players on the World Series roster, but I know all 51 who wore the Sox uniform at any point in the season. What can I say - best baseball season of my life!

And yeah, Millar was the starting 1B whenever the games were in the AL park with a DH. Mientkiewicz was a defensive replacement and did not start any games in the World Series.

Hahaha, love all the minuses for the pro-Red Sox comments, keep em coming baby. There will never ever be a sweeter moment for another group of fans of any other team in sports (cept the Cubbies when/if they win). 2004 SOX FOREVER!!!!

I cheated on Mientkiewicz. If you know the guy, and his name is ridiculously spelled, that counts.

It would be interesting to do a 2007 Red Sox quiz. I bet people would be surprised how different the team looked only 3 years later.

Millar should be the starting 1B. And more of these would be great.

Interesting quiz... a lot of surprising answers. I think 2005 White Sox is next. They broke a curse too.

i disagree with everyone about 1B, it says World Series WINNING roster, when they won the series mientkiewicz was playing first. definitely would like to see more of these types of quizzes for MLB, NBA, and NFL

Gotta disagree with geowiz... if it was WINNING roster, there would be no DH listed. Game 4 was in St. Louis and consequently there was no DH in the game... Not picking on the quiz-maker because it doesn't really matter who's at 1B... the point is that the above players comprised the "25-man" roster as declared for game 4...

@geowiz85 - That just means Sporcle was asking for the twenty-five guys active during the World Series. Not surprisingly, I got twenty. The events of that fall so completely burned me as a Yankee fan, it was hard to forget them. Mad at myself for missing Millar, although not overly worked up about not being able to spell Malphabet. Reese, Leskanic, and Myers? Eh, whatever.

Any Minnesotan should be able to spell it: Doug Mientkiewicz, his size and speed are due to genetics! He's a tribute to the joy of phonetics! Say M-I-E-N-T-K-I-E-W-I-C-Z! I know it's sounds crazy! But that's how you spell Mientkiewicz! /jingle

I think the reason why the Red Sox got a quiz before the White Sox is because of the heartache that the Red Sox (seemingly) routinely put their fanbase through. Who was the White Sox's Bucky ******* Dent? Who was their Bill Buckner? Who was their Grady Little? And the Red Sox didn't just win the World Series that year. They won it in the most awesome way imaginable. Goat those Yank bums into thinking they've got the ALCS locked up (for the 2nd year in a row...don't forget that '03-'04 was one of the peaks of the rivalry), swat them around like a bunch of little leagers, then march to the title like true champions by sweeping the Series.
