I feel a little ashamed that the longest lecture I have EVER been in did not sink in properly - only got four. Imperial College, you have a LOT to answer for.

Hellloooo new sex positions! Ahem. Anyway, I guess old physics-related jokes are appropriate here: Q: Why was Heisenberg's wife unsatisfied? A: When he had the time he didn't have the energy, and when he had the position, he didn't have the momentum.

Didn't the International Academy of Stuffy Old Scientists or somesuch decree most of these too "whimsical" and came out with a different set of names. @klogg: I am stealing that joke.

I have no clue what quarks are so first I guessed electrons, then protons, then vanilla, and then green. I then gave up.

@klogg: Physics jokes are as follows: Why did the cat fall off the roof? He didn't have enough mu. And: Heisenberg's tearing it down the motorway, really gunning it when a constable pulls him over. "Do you know how fast you were just going?" asks the PC. "No," replies Heisenberg, "but I know exactly where I am!" Feel free to not laugh at your leisure.

@Pam_I_Am: It's not a joke, "flavor" is genuinely what physicists call the quality that distinguishes these types of quarks from one another. Obviously, it doesn't refer to flavor of the edible type.

Anyone wondering what quarks are; they are sub-particles that make up all hadrons (eg protons and neutrons) and thus most of the complicated matter in the universe (other particles, leptons eg electrons, are very basic). And yet I still only got 4 :-/ top and bottom eluded me.

@Pan_I_Am: No joke. It's just that they're called `flavours' rather than `kinds' or `types'.
