	@dayecarter: Aston Villa have always been called the villains. And for Man City citizens is a relatively new nickname. I think they changed it from the sky blues a few years ago.

	@dayecarter: I'm not really a football fan but I managed to work out Villa's nickname without having heard it before. I got Man City's because it also accepts `City', which was my lame guess.

	Man City have been called the Citizens for at least 25 years now. "Pool" should also be acceptable for Liverpool. As for the West Brom name, I actually typed in "Throstles" and it came up with "Baggies" so it's all good.

	@dayecarter - Liverpool are commonly known as the Reds - the Kop is the name for one of the stands behind the goal, and is not exclusive to Anfield (eg Elland Road also has a stand known as the Kop)

	@Fergus: There are tens of Kops around the UK and even abroad, such as the Kop de Boulogne at the Parc des Princes in Paris. They're named after Spion Kop hill, site of a battle in the Boer War, because the steep terraces are reminiscent of the the shape of the hill.

	Good idea, but I think some of them are a little outdated. I'm English and have grown up on football but some of these i've never heard. Man City and Villa seemed especially obscure. And the first thing I tried for Liverpool was The Kop, because when I think of The Reds, I think of Man U. _________________________________________________________________ Manchester united have a recognized nickname of red devils. There were numerous ones i accepted for villa. And citizens is a recognized nickname for man city. There are also lots of kops around the country

	As a die-hard football fan, I have never heard Chelsea called "Pensioners". Also, due to the large Jewish population around Tottenham, they were originally called the "Yids" as an insult. However, nowadays the term is used by their own fans as a nickname and term of endearment, for example "Yid Army".

	@davidr. I don't read every comment posted on every quiz so had no idea how often the (admittedly bad) joke has been used. Don't see why I have to get the attitude for it. @ChandlerBong, Middlesbrough were also called Smoggies as an insult but is now used by the Boro fans e.g. Smoggies in Europe flags/scarves during our UEFA Cup run.

	I tried "pie eaters" for Wigan, is that name reserved for the fans, not the team? And Chanandler, as a laid back sort of football fan, I have certainly heard Chelsea called the Pensioners, but just be happy that at least it takes Blues too.

	being an avid football fan i am ashamed to admit i didn't get chelsea. The only thing i could think of was Chelski, it didn't even come into my mind that it was simply 'blues', let alone pensioners.

	Missed Bolton. Knew what is was and kicked myself. @ ChanandlerBong, Pensioners was Chelsea's nickname for a long time and I don't think it's ever been dropped; just used less. It's certainly well known enough to be in this quiz.

	I can't understand why so many people don't know Boro for Middlesbrough, as they are called by their nicknames almost as much as they are by their full name. I'd say that Boro, Spurs and Wolves were by far the most used nicknames in English football. The Pensioners was Chelsea's nicknames for years and years, but I think they dropped it as it didn't sound cool. It's a shame because it's a unique name while lots of teams are known as the Blues.

	Man city have been known as the Citizens for donkeys years. They were also known as the sky blues as were Coventry City.

	Some teams are reffered to by their nicknames more than others e.g. Manchester United are often just called 'United' because it's easier than saying 'Red Devils', however Middlesbrough get called 'Boro' as much as their real name.
