	agree about the surprising results with Spain and definitely the #1 country. Upon a quick look at wiki it says: [The #1 country]was a Portuguese overseas territory from the 16th century to 1975. so i guess that makes sense

	I guess a lot of people don't know any Portugese colonies beside Brazil... I couldn't remember #8 and 10 as former colonies because my mind was stuck on Macau!

	As portuguese, i think this data is not up date, since last census was in 2001. Nowdays, the Brazilian community is the biggest, and there are some new communities from western europe, as russia, moldova and romania, more China. Besides this, nice quiz

	I was looking at the source... and I think Spain should be 9th with 13955. The abbreviation for Spain is ESP in the census.

	I figured the former Portuguese colonies and territories would make the list. And, of course, I still forgot one of them--I knew I was missing one of those African countries, but couldn't think of it. I was a bit surprised that neither Timor-Leste nor Indonesia there (I'm aware that Indonesia was a former Dutch colony, but I'd thought the dispute over Timor's status might've led to some level of Indonesian/Timorese flight to Portugal). Also, I was surprised that Macau wasn't listed until I realized it was never a real "country" as such.

	I think the least guessed countries have more to do with their size... And considering that Timor-Leste has only become independent in 2002, that may be the reason that it doesn't appear in this quiz

	Oh man! The first quiz I take where being Portuguese is a huge advantage :D As for some of your doubts, I can only say that besides some of our former colonies that made the top for obvious reasons, #12 population comes, for the most part, to find jobs in construction and cleaning and #7 and #19 are countries where we have a huge Portuguese community. Now, as far as #18 goes I can't think of a reason why they would like to come here, because they enjoy far better lives (better economy and wages) in their own country. So yeah, they are way down on the list.

	@ffl: I disagree. Although former colonies and neighboring countries might be a good way to approach the quiz, it is by no means applicable for each and every instance. Look at Portugal - no North African country made the list - and Morocco is much nearer to Portugal than Ukraine. And look at the foreign-born population quiz for the USA or Japan. I think these quizzes are fun and if anything take down preconceived notions about demographics and the movement of people. I'm still flummoxed at how far down Spain is on the list, and it is the only country that Portugal shares a border with.

	Yes I was vaguely aware that Luxembourg would be a major answer if the quiz were in the other direction so worth a guess as some will return to their roots. Possibly similar with Canada (well Toronto) having a lot of Portuguese-origin people. Oh and Jersey (a bit randomly), but I guess any from there would come under the UK along with the Algarve oldies!

	I'm portuguese and #14 was the only surprising one to me (and I didn't get it...). #1, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 are all former portuguese colonies and, especially for the african ones Portugal is the most common destination when they look for better lives. #2, 6, 7, 9, 11, 15 and 19 were the main countries portuguese people emigrated too like 2 generations ago. I was expecting to see Australia here as well, I guess most of those didn't return. A lot of people from #12 come to find work in Portugal. #13 and 20 are mostly retired people who want to enjoy some sun in their last days. :D
