@jack depends on the size of the turtle.

@ Jack, a box turtle is about the size of an x-box controller, and really can't make its way across a tank very fast. Unless there are crickets or worms or leftover steak that we couldn't eat, then it becomes a turtle possessed with unfathomable speeds of up to .7 mph.

I find it had to believe that there are 2,087,000 HOUSEHOLDS with PET HORSES, thats almost as many the last 5 combined! Even if it were counting each horse individually (not households as is stated) I think that is pretty high if it is only supposed to include pet horses and not working, racing, etc. Or maybe I'm just mad because I never got a pony... ;)

The AVMA certainly has no consistency in their catergories - mammals are listed by species (expect for livestock). Meanwhile, ALL birds are listed together? I'd like to see a distinction made between canaries, parakeets, cockatiels and other birds. Same thing with fish.

:/ missed horses and livestock. i didn't think livestock would be included in "household" pets. oh well, still proud of myself for getting the rest plus the bonus. :)

i certainly treat the word 'turtle' as the ocean going things that only come on land to lay eggs e.g. leatherback/green etc

You know, there are people in this world that don't have to put up with all this ****. Like that guy that invented the pet rock. You see, that's what you have to do. You have to use your mind and come up with some really great idea like that and you can make millions, never have to work again!

shepherd - the others are not listed by species. There are a variety of horses (miniature, clydesdale), dogs, cats, etc. True, there are a wide variety of fish and birds, but I would say that the answer set is consistent (save for livestock).

@btroup1 - there are varieties or breeds of horses, dogs, and cats. Not different species of horses, dogs, and cats. A dove is an entirely different species from a cockatiel, which is an entirely different species from a macaw parrot.

The note in the heading of this game should be changed. A grizzly bear is actually a subspecies of brown bear (Ursus arctos), not a "breed" of bear. Breed is a different idea. Also, the term "bear" strictly speaking refers not to a species but to the family Ursidae, though the majority of bears people are familiar with belong to the genus Ursus.
