| Well, if you went to school in the 1950's and 60's, as I did, articles were considered a specific type of adjective because they modified nouns. Nowadays, there seems to be a ninth part of speech called "determiners" that includes the definite and indefinite articles and words like "some," "any," "many," "few," etc. Me, I like the old system as "determiners" can include demonstrative pronouns such as "these," "that," "this," "those," and even possessive pronouns. Anyway, it would seem that there are different types of adjectives and articles are still considered by many (including me) to be a small class of a specific type of adjective. |
