The producers tried to mix things up a bit, and it didn't go over well.

I wonder why Regis hasn't hosted yet. He's not on tv enough.

Didn't have a clue, but got 35/80 by just guessing random surnames, then when a group came up guessing all the surnames in that group.

It's a bit lame that `No host' is the answer for several years. Those years should just be omitted from the quiz.

Typing in Bob Hope is like typing in Wilt Chamberlain on the high scoring basketball game quiz.

Got 35 the same way Ben did; then read these and got 43 for typing "No Host."

I agree with davidr. Omit the years with no host. I only typed it in because I read these comments. Otherwise I was wracking my brain to come up with the missing hosts.

Funny, the first thing I typed was "none", assuming there would be years like that. Anyway, I think this was an excellent quiz. Definitely a great idea. I can't remember how I did when I took it earlier today, but it was in the low fifties.

@kicking222: You can find out your highest and lowest score by clicking the "stats" link at the top of the page, clicking on the name of this quiz and then scrolling back up to the top of the page. I got 42 from knowing the 1989, 2002 and 2008 hosts, filling in the co-hosts and guessing a couple of others.

@davidr: Heh, yeah, I know it's there, but it never occurs to me to do that when I post crap like this. I should really get in that habit. But thanks- for every idiot like me who just forgets to check (oh, by the way, 51!), there's probably someone who doesn't even realize the Stats page exists.

I remembered 5 names off the top of my head. They were something like 35 of the answers. Then I just typed the other names that came up and got a lot more. Ended up with far more than I knew going in. I love these types of quizzes.

Maybe it should be noted that the second and third Academy Award ceremonies were held the same year - 1930.

Got 12 from guessing random surnames; the only one where I actually had a full name in mind was David Letterman, and I don't even know who he is.

Had a lot of fun with this, but I agree with those complaints that the years with no host should be omitted or should have some explanatory comment. Nonetheless, a great idea for a quiz with some surprising answers.

You might want to add Anne Hathaway and James Franco. They're set to host in 2011.

Starting in 1941, where you have Walter Wanger as the host, the list is incorrect for several years. Bob Hope hosted in 1941 - http://www.oscars.org/awards/academyawards/legacy/ceremony/13th.html - and because of the insertion of the wrong host, every host after that is off by one year. I haven't figured out where the list corrects itself yet.
