I thought Mongolia's capital was spelled "Ulaanbaatar" - if there is merit there, perhaps that could be an alternate spelling?

according to wikipedia, it is an alternate spelling. I got 31/32 just because it wouldn't take "ulaanbataar."

Same as Jackk6784 - spent just as much time typing in "Ulaanbataar" on this one as I spent typing "Ulan bator" on the asian capital sporcle the first time I played that. Consistency please.

More reason than ever to finally get around to mastering the European Capitals quiz. And after the Alf bonus answer on yesterday's sitcoms quiz, I actually typed "fortress of solitude." I feel really silly now.

Good thing I know all of Europe's capitals. Too bad Russia hogs northern Eurasia or else we would have had some others. How about "Southernmost Capitals"

Since Greenland became a fully independent, self-governing nation just last month, their capital Nuuk should be at least in the top 3, if not first on the list

@Mattomic- Greenland is not fully independent. But I wish that it did not "independent sovereign nations" in parentheses or else Nuuk could have been a bonus

It's surprising that the northernmost capital is only getting around 60% (in 13th place at the moment). Perhaps it's due to spelling.

@RyanUR: I'd say spelling is a big part of that. That's why I couldn't get it. Screw you and your goofy spelling, Iceland. I'm going to bed.

I totally blanked on Helsinki. I spent a solid two minutes trying to remember the capital of Finland and just couldn't do it. My punishment is telling this to a bunch of strangers on the Internet who know things about geography.

@groug: If it makes you feel better, I came so close to forgetting Finland in general (and Sweden!). I did Norway and Iceland first and then moved onto southern Europe - I sat there for ages trying to work out what could possibly be number two!

Was a little surprised how far down the list Canada's was. I guess as an American, I think of it as far north. That being saiid, a wonderful, original idea (despite it ending up as guessing european capitals). It never ceases to amaze me how many geography quizzes they can come up with here

@fatbeard: Most of Canada is above the 49th parallel, but its capital is nestled in the triangle that dips below it. It is very cold though.

Concentrated so much on the continent itself, I totally forgot Iceland. And one consistency thing too. Mostly Kishinev, the former name of Chisinau is accepted on the other quizzes, but not on this. (I did enter Kishinev, after failing to spell Chisinau, that one is always easier for me)

I apparently will never learn to spell the capital of Iceland. Several minutes of typing various combinations of the letters r,e,i,y,j,v,a and k - nada.

Cool quiz... I was actually surprised until I thought about it how heavily Europe was represented. I'd like to see the highest latitude capitals (north or south) and even more, the corollary - capitals closest to the equator (lowest latitude).

I didn't get Canada's because I typed in Toronto. I aced The Godfather quiz that came out today. I'm really not feeling like the brightest person right now.

I bet you did the top 32 and not top 30, for example, only to avoid everyone complaining about Canada not being on there.
