This is so weird... Just this afternoon I was checking the North Carolina wikipedia page... otherwise I would have known only two (I'm European, if anyone may find the last sentences strange)

I am embarrassed, I've lived in NC my whole life (19 years) and only got 10 :( epic failed spelling "fayetteville" and guessed a lot of cities that aren't in the top 20 lol, I do agree with kinskey normally...except when it is my state they are doing.

"Today, we at Sporcle pay tribute to North Carolina, the home of great basketball, fine tobacco and Soupy Sales." -- No, don't mention Krispy Kreme or The Andy Griffith Show...

Strangely, I did pretty well on this one, compared to the others. Despite having only ever stopped over in Charlotte once during a trip, and spending a night in Hickory, NC on my way to Atlanta. And Hickory wasnt even on here.

I feel like this is the first state where you don't really have to know suburbs. The only ones that can be considered as such are Cary and Huntersville. You're actually required to know cities that are cities unto themselves. Excellent.

Visited NC once so that helped this European get 11. Fantastic seashore at Cape Hatteras, the BLueridge mts. and above all hospitable people everywhere made North Carolina (and its Southern cousin) a memorable place for me.

Oh my god how did I miss Charlotte? Oh yeah, every time I tried to think of another city I got James Brown in my head saying "Raleigh North Carolina"

I live in Greenville which helped me get that one, it's always funny to me though how much people don't even know of the Greenville in NC despite us having the second largest University in NC. I know that's the way it is, and I'm not complaining, just making an obeservation. Anyway, love the quiz just because it's NC.

Sporcle how about a bit of balance on these types of quiz with a 'towns and cities of Staffordshire'?

Hmmm, I think I must've known Kannapolis in my deep subconscious, since for some reason "Kennebunkport" kept popping into my head.

@ Deadpool People probably confuse it with Greensboro. And it gets overshadowed by Charlotte and Raleigh, plus ECU isn't in a BCS conference. All of those things make a perfect limbo confluence for Greenville.

I lived in Concord for 12 years and got that one, but missed Kannapolis (which is right next to it) because I never thought it would be big enough to be in top 20. I am pleasantly surprised.

I've lived in Charlotte for the first 18 years of my life, been in Raleigh for the past 5. I only missed Huntersville, which I am shocked is actually more populated than other cities like Boone.

If we get technical about things North Carolina has given the world, then I think the giant random furniture monuments in the Triad deserve some of the headline as well as Krispy Kreme.

Born and raised in NC, and still missed 3. Surely Hickory is over 40k population as much as its grown.

Lifelong NC resident here, got all of them but Huntersville. I was kind of surprised about Hickory too. While we are at it, NC did give the world Pespi as well.

13/20. Pretty good for a Northerner, even though I left out Michael Jordan's home town. I knew Cary's grown a bit but I had no idea it was as big as it is.
