New York has three football teams!!!! The Buffalo Bills are from Buffalo, New York and Buffalo is actually in New York unlike the Jets and Giants who clearly point out actually play in New Jersey. I expected more from you oh great people of Sporcle.com. I expected more.

last time I checked the buffalo bills, from Buffalo, NEW YORK plays in NEW YORK. Thus if you count the NY Jets and Giants as NY teams then the bills must also be included, if not call the state Jersey.

This was a fun, quick quiz, how about a quiz on naming the states with more than one team for other sports, like hockey, or basball

The Redskins play in a suburb of DC on the Maryland side, to go along with the Ravens, so you should really list Maryland, too, at least as a bonus.

The Redskins play in Maryland as do the Ravens. Also only 1 NFL team plays in New York and that's the Bills.

I agree that Maryland should be included. The only explanation would be is that they are going with the state of the metro area, not the actual location of the stadium (hence the NY/NJ mess).

Yeah, Maryland and New Jersey should be on the list, New York should not. One minute was tough, I was flying across the map in my mind, couldn't come up with Missouri. Good idea for a quiz, needs better execution.

At the very least either Maryland should be counted and New York shouldn't (going by where the teams play) or New York should and Maryland shouldn't (going by the teams' home cities). Allowing both makes the quiz a bit inconsistent and confusing.

On the Missouri topic: Moreover, 'Kansas City, Missouri' is not the same city as 'Kansas City, Kansas'. So it really doesn't have anything to do with which side of Kansas City the chiefs play in because the play in Kansas City, Missouri.

Hmm...I'm not sure what other guidelines besides "where the team actually plays" we are supposed to use to determine what states have teams in them. The Jets and Giants play in New Jersey, so New Jersey should be an answer. The Redskins play in Maryland, so Maryland should also be an answer. The Bills are the only team to play in New York, so New York should not be an answer.

For all of you who say Maryland shouldn't be there... The redskins play in Landover, Maryland, not DC.

who cares where the redskins play? they are the WASHINGTON redskins, not the landover redskins. maryland should not be on here because maryland does not "have" the redskins, DC does. they should be a bonus, but not a "Real" answer

Either Maryland has to go or New York has to go. You've gotta be consistent. They are called the NEW YORK JETS and GIANTS but play in New Jersey. They are calle the WASHINGTON Redskins but play in Maryland. Very contradictory.

I submitted this and when I did, I didn't include Maryland. I see your points, but they are the Washington Redskins and DC isn't a part of Maryland. As far as the NY Giants and the NY Jets, give me a break. The state is in their name. The Saints had to play in Houston during Katrina, but that doesn't mean they should be counted as a Texas team.

@Spikes: The quiz asks where they play; that should suffice. 7/7--Maryland is a tricky one.

Also, people honestly don't think Kansas City, which is the biggest city in Missouri, is in Missouri? Considering we have two NFL teams, how could we possibly be THIS irrelevant?

I had seven, just missing Maryland, then got confused because the rest are in alphabetical order... so I was trying to think of a state that comes after Texas in the alphabet... boo.

I despise, hate, abhor, detest and *really* dislike football, but I love a good geography quiz. I only missed Maryland, not knowing the Redskins (hasn't anyone told them about cultural sensitivity) don't actually play in DC.

Coming late to the controversy, and not thinking, I typed in New York and got the bonus answer. Sadly, it took me another 20 seconds to get New Jersey. Did get Maryland, though.

Kansas City, Missouri is the Kansas City you hear and see about for any sporting event (outside of the racing at the kansas speedway). Every time I go out of this area people assume I'm from kansas and I have to correct them. My Missouri Tiger pride causes me to usually have a snarky comment too.

Kansas City is only the biggest city in Missouri if you don't count suburbs...by metro area, St. Louis beats it by almost a million.

I think a minute is just a bit short, 1:30 or 2:00 would be better. Also, this quiz should include a disclaimer that says it's where the team actually plays not what their name says (I bet a majority of the quiz takers will get the bonus answer as it is).
