Any NFL rushing quiz that doesn't have Barry Sanders on it should automatically be rejected.

barry sanders never got 17 rushing TDs in a season?

It's about the only way to oppress Barry! As a Bears fan, I hated playing the Lions because he'd always find a way to go ten yards back, then burst for a long score (without being so much as sneezed at). 19/27. Can't believe I didn't think of JB--should've referenced the years more closely.

I scored 8 by just guessing common American last names :p Hell, I don't even know what a rushing TD is. :)

I like how 69% of people guessed Spec Sanders when they were looking for Barry. I know I was

Haha, that was awesome getting Spec Sanders for Barry and Jim Taylor for Fred.

I admit to getting Spec when looking for Barry but I was guessing the right Taylor

A bit surprised at the lack of Thurman Thomas, considering Jim Kelly is also missing from some of the passing TD record quizzes...how the heck DID the Bills score their points in the early '90s then?

Am I drunk??? I got 21/27 and missed Tomlinson. I went through all the teams in my head, and for some reason missed him. D'oh!

I was surprised to see that 1 percent fewer people got Stephen Davis than Terrell Davis, cuz unless they typed in the whole name for Terrell they should have gotten both...

How'd I get downvoted? I think Fred Taylor is a reasonable guess. Doesn't mean I never considered Jim, just that when I typed in Taylor I was thinking of Fred. Usually on these quizzes I start with recent players (as they are usually fresh in my mind) and work backwards. Some of you people are boneheads with your downvoting.

Chris, I did the exact same thing. I also typed in Davis, never thinking of Stephen, and got DeAngelo Williams while going for Ricky (who did, after all, lead the league in yards one season). Definitely an odd quiz, made much easier when you don't bother with first names.

I got 21/27...but I didn't deserve Spec Sanders or Joe Morris...and it's debatable I would have gotten Stephen Davis as I was after Terrell. When I got Morris,I was desperately scanning my mind for RB's from the 70's (Mercury Morris lol). Forgot to think of Marcus Allen, which would've given me Terry, but that'd be a cheap pickup. Riggins and Taylor I just don't know. I need more sporcle NFL quizzes that deal exclusively with the last decade!

Tough quiz, but still a great one. On Madden 09 I had Willis McGahee run for 21 TD's in only 13 games.

I got DeAngelo Williams, but couldn't remember Michael Turner. And I'll confess, too, to guessing the wrong Allen and Sanders. I never knew Terry Allen was THAT good, ever.

The guy who had 17 TD in 1947 actually did it in the old All America Football Conference, not the NFL. Pro-football-reference lists don't distinguish between the two, but AAFC stats really aren't supposed to count toward NFL records. Great quiz though -- love these.

I missed three....1981, 1985, and 1986. Oh and I definitely got Spec, and Jim by guessing for Barry and Marcus. Davis and Williams, however, I knew. Who says fantasy football doesn't pay off? :o)

I noticed a few people saying they were surprised Thurman Thomas wasn't on here so I'm guessing they'll be even more surprised to learn that only once in his career did he rush for double-digit touchdowns and that was 11 in 1990. And Marcus Allen may have made the list if his rookie year wasn't shortened by the strike, he had 11 touchdowns in just 9 games.

I'm not a football expert (got 10), but I was surprised Curtis Martin didn't make the list. I feel like he's always underrated and does more than he gets credit for.

As for how the Bills scored a lot of points in the early 90's...they didn't have to. The defense was crazily good.

Havok3595: What are you talking about? The Bills offense was the reason they got to four straight Super Bowls, not their defense. They were ranked 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 7th in points per game from 1990-1993 and were only ranked 6th, 19th, 14th, and 5th in points per game allowed.

Probably vast majority of those 67% that got Spec Sanders were guessing Barry Sanders.

^Regarding Gale Sayers 22 TD Rookie Season, keep in mind this list is RUSHING TD's only. Only 14 of those TD's that year were from rushing. 6 were receiving and 2 were kickoff/punt returns.
