Why isn't "Works Progress Administration" acceptable for WPA? That was the original name.

Good quiz but frustrating. I was really close on a lot of them, e.g. Rural Electric Administration instead of Electrification.

SEC and SSA were the only ones that were anywhere on my radar. Need to go back to my history books I suppose!

Hugh Moan: Nuclear Knuckles is actually right - technically speaking, acronyms spell out words (like SCUBA or RADAR). But most people tend to use acronyms interchangeably with initialisms nowadays.

Lousy socialism

El barto the new deal was not socialism but it was a fundamental change of how people view the role of government in society. Socialism is government and democratic ownership of the means of production not some ownership and mostly regulation. If you think obama or Roosevelt are socialist you have a lot to learn. So no more political statements or comments that something is socalist.

Tank they didn't like FDR that much they were just used to him. Thank God we passed a law that allows only 2 terms. I can imagine all the new acronyms by the end of the year that the media will bow to their god of 'change' which isn't change just control.

Ugh - Act, Authority, Administration - that last "A" always seems to be the last one I try. Same with Commission, Corporation, Corps. Joe, were you in my AP US class? lol - alphabet soup is right!

It is an american thing. some of these answers are acts and some of these are administrations tho. so you should have the administration and the act as answers for all of the initials. like the Agricultural Adjustment Act/Administration

My dad always said they called WPA "we poke along" and PWA "pa works again". Those might be good for bonus answers.
