34/40. I was surprised to find only one school from the Wolverine State.

3 Big 5 (Philly) schools, in itself more than almost all states.

33/40. There's a couple I'm kicking myself for missing (Arizona, but I wouldn't have guessed K-State made this list if you gave me an hour to finish.

My internal dialogue: "Okay, who made the tournament this year? Um, Illinois got in, Western Kentucky beat them." "There's no way in hell Western Kentucky made the tournament more times than Michigan." "Well, we'll just see about that!"

Can't believe how long it took me to come up with Kentucky. Amazing how far they've fallen. Missed 6, definitely should have gotten Marquette and Pitt. Other four are a little easier to let slip the mind (I can't help but think of Notre Dame as only a football school).

Kind of odd that most of the Big 10 is here but not Michigan itself, and I was hoping for some random small school, glad Western Kentucky didn't disappoint.

Why should Northwestern be given a bonus answer. Its not really significant. There are plenty of teams who have never made the tournament. Army and William & Mary for example. The Big Ten isn't the only conference out there.

@Jaspa: the only significant thing about NW is that they are the only school from a BCS conference that hasn't made the tournament.

Seriously-it's WVU-if UConn works for Connecticut and UCLA for California of Los Angeles, then WVU should work for West Virginia.

This quiz is too American-centric. There is a whole world full of universities outside the states. Sporcle needs to stop being so narrow minded.

Damn the Big East? 12 out of 16 possible Big East universities are on here. It definitely was created as a basketball conference. Oh and GO UCONN

According to Wikipedia, Michigan has 17 appearances but they also had to vacate 4 appearances for using ineligble players. Otherwise, they'd be on the list (tied for the last spot)

Conio, as soon as those basketball powerhouses from Oxford, Universidad de Santiago, and University of Johannesberg qualify for the NCAA tournament at least 21 times, they too can be answers on this quiz. Stop crying and go practice your jumper.

It's unbelievable how far St. Johns has fallen off. I mean Kentucky is not what it once was, but St. Johns is completely off the radar now.
