	i missed trinidad & tobago, malaysia, and algeria. like brenlo, i ended up just typing in as many countries as i could think of until i ran out of time. i was also pleasently surprised that i spelled "Kazakhstan" correctly on the first try :)

	Netherlands surprised me, especially being so high up there. With Trinidad and Tobago, remember that a lot of oil and gas is off the north coast of south America, being accessed by offshore rigs. Island nations and nations with a lot of coastline like Norway score higher than you expect because of those offshore rigs.

	The north sea is basically swimming with oil and gas. That's where Norway, the UK, and apparently also the Netherlands get their gas. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_oil_and_gas_fields_of_the_North_Sea) Also, I'm shocked Bhutan(e) didn't make the list! :P

	I'm kind of disappointed there was no Kyrgyzstan. Just as I had learnt how to spell it too :-) Who would have thought T&T though?

	I think this is who is exporting the most. I'm pretty sure Iran has the largest reserves of natural gas but just isn't exporting it as much as more developed countries. I think the technology used to transport gas is more complicated than transporting oil so its the more advanced countries that are producing the most despite not having the most.

	A couple of people mentioned the time allowing you to just randomly enter countries - unless you have a good knowledge of natural gas produce league tables, surely thats the main of what this quiz is. I thought I'd go for some Arabian oil producing countries and got some, but then Iraq wasn't there so it was just guesswork. I thought I'd go for some large countries with big borders and got some, but then Brazil wasn't there. There's little logic, so unless we get only a minute or so, it's pretty likely that we will be randomly guessing countries nearly from the off. (possibly unjustified rant over. i still enjoyed this one)

	It's more of a question to know a few natural gas fields - gulf of mexico, northern canada, persian gulf, tip of malaysia, north sea. After that, I found myself guessing every country with conceivably enough infrastructure. Forgot uzbekistan and turkmenistan; and algeria. Got trinidad and tobago (I just stumbled upon it on wikipedia)

	Yes, it's possible to do well on the quiz by guessing countries. In fact, there are plenty of people who can score 195/195 on the countries of the world quiz in under five minutes so, yes, they could score full marks on any list-of-countries quiz without even having to read the question. I think it's important to have a time limit that allows people to think about which countries might reasonably produce a lot of natural gas — if the time limit becomes too strict, the only way of doing well is to guess random countries as quickly as possible.

	@jamesjamesclub: That's close. The list is what countries are producing the most, not what countries are exporting the most or have the largest reserves. But it is true that natural gas production is more difficult and more dangerous than petroleum production. That is why Iraq has proven reserves higher than some countires on this list but is not on this list. Running natural gas infrastructure around an unstable country like Iraq would be asking for trouble.

	Re: Dubliner, we Argentines are on the list but how is Bolivia not on the list since we import a huge amount of natural gas from them. Surprised Venezuela isn't on there, especially if you count the gas coming from Chavez.

	I'm surprised the Netherlands is second-last in countries people didn't guess. As someone said, it's basically a matter of knowing what seas or regions have huge gas deposits, then guessing surrounding countries. The Netherlands has one of the largest natural gas deposits in the world that I practically live on top of :p The government pulls a nice €5 billion a year from that.
