	"God Save the Queen/King" (the latter should also be accepted) is the anthem of the whole UK, not just England. Scotland doesn't, officially, have an anthem.

	Nice one, although I think it should also accept common names for the anthems like "Deutschland Uber Alles" for Germany and "Fratelli d'Italia" for Italya.

	@tizio and in general The German Anthem isn't "Deutschland über alles" nor "Deutschlandlied", it was until the end of World War 2. Since then, the anthem is just one verse of the Deutschlandlied and is called "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit" or just "Deutsche Nationalhymne"...

	being a transliteration, for Israel Hativka (so without the h) should also be acceptable, especially given it seems to be spelt equally with and without from what i've seen...

	We might not have an official anthem but whenever Scotland play as a separate nation we use flower of scotland over all the other options more often than not.

	davidr - The national anthem of England is only "God save the king" when there's a king. And though it is also the national anthem of the UK, the individual nations of the UK do have their own anthems as well. As for the other issues raised, I'm going to look into Hativka and the alternate names for the German anthem, which I wasn't aware of. If they pan out, I'll try to get them added as alternate answers.

	The Italian National Anthem is "Inno di Mameli" or "L'inno di Mameli". It's also commonly called "Fratelli D'Italia". There is NO one in Italy that calls it "Canto degli Italiani". No one.

	@Phil Sandifer: It's the other way round. When the constituent countries need an anthem, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland use their own unofficial anthems; England has no anthem so uses the UK anthem `God Save the Queen/King.' It's not that the UK uses the English anthem; rather, England uses the UK anthem.

	@Chris: you're right -- the South African National Anthem was "Nkosi Sikelel iAfrika" but it isn't any more. The current anthem takes parts from others, including "Nkosi Sikelel iAfrika".

	Interesting concept, but I think this would be much more interesting if you had turned it around, providing the names for each anthem and having players guess the country. Maybe you can try that for a follow-up?

	@Matt: `Ireland' is usually taken to mean `the Republic of Ireland'; people say `the island of Ireland' if they mean to include Northern Ireland as well. And you're going to have to find a much better term than `free' -- two thirds of the people in Northern Ireland want to be part of the UK rather than the Republic. It wouldn't be acceptable for the joint Republic-NI rugby team to play the Irish or UK anthem as that would suggest territorial claims in one direction or the other.

	The song "Down Under" by Men At Work should count for Australia. Didn't they adopt it as their unofficial anthem?

	@DerKomissar: if so, "I'm gonna be" by the Proclaimers should count for Scotland for the same reasons. Personally I prefer both these songs to the officials. @Davidr: I salute you. Thank you for explaining in almost every quiz the difference between the UK as a whole and its individual countries. Just by the way "O Flower of Scotland" was not accepted but "Scotland the Brave" (totally different song I'm sure) was...?!?

	'Scotland the Brave' is what they play at the Commonwealth Games, 'O Flower of Scotland' is what they play at the rugby and football. Neither of them is official, I think officially it is still 'God Save the Queen' if Scotland is thought as part of the UK, but nothing official when thought of as a separate country.

	England as a distinct entity has no official national anthem, but "Jerusalem" is often used as an unofficial one at sporting events, and I think I recall "Land of Hope and Glory" being used at the Commonwealth Games (where the constituent parts of the UK compete separately, unlike the Olympics).
