Wow, that is one random mix of pitchers...I got 6 out of 23, and I threw every pitcher I could think of at this.

Frank Smith seems to be missing - he threw one on 9/6/1905 and one on 9/20/1908, both against modern AL teams. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Smith_(starting_pitcher)

Since the American Association was and still is considered a major league I think Ted Breitenstein should be a correct answer,I tried spelling his name 4 times before giving up. That would also make Al Atkinson and Adonis Terry answers as they both pitched 2 as well.

the description for the quiz says "since 1975...." so I was only guessing pitchers since then. That could be confusing for others too

Johnny Vander Meer's two no-hitters were on consecutive starts. That feat will never be duplicated.

Not to complain too much, but R****** comes before S**** in the dictionary, so if somebody was using the alphabetical listings of the players as a kind of hinting guide, they would probably never get one or the other.

Using this random sports quiz for a request. How about a NCAA Football Bowl quiz. Name all 34 bowl games.

How about largest US metro areas without a major league "big 4" sports team?

I actually like both of those ideas. Also, man, this was tough. I think I pulled eight.

Man, I'm an absolute baseball nut, and I only got 16. And one of those was because I guessed the wrong guy (someone with the same last name).

@Seth Becker: The problem with that quiz is that half the bowls change names and sponsors every year, so the quiz would have to be redone every year. Other than the major ones, it would too difficult.

Man, these are the types of things that bring absolute nuts for the sport like me down to earth. 18/24. Amazing quiz. How about teams who made the top 64 in NCAA basketball the most times without making it to the final four? I just thought of that, it might be interesting.

My wife saw a Rayn no-hitter, my sister a Maloney, and I saw a Holtzman no-hitter - pretty amazing when combined we probably have seen 100 games

If Steve Busby didn't get hurt, he may have thrown 4-5. He was flat out dominant in the mid-70s. The Royals very well may have won the World Series in 1978 and 1980 if he was healthy.

I couldn't remember how to spell Buehrle's name. Maloney I wasn't sure of only because he gave up a hit in extra innings in one of them and lost. Otherwise my 13 would be 15.

Could Kevin Millwood be counted now? Or do you have to throw 2 all by yourself. He had that combined no hitter this year.
