This got me thinking that it would be really awesome if you did a quiz on all the Academy Award Best Original Song winners.

Wish "Don't Stop Me Now" from Shaun of the Dead or that Office Space rap song were there instead of Celine...

I cannot believe "what is love" from night at the roxbury wasnt on here. If ever a song defined a movie it was that song in that movie

Should've put Eye of the Tiger from Rocky 3 in instead. Also, I was kinda expecting Rainbow Connection from The Muppet Movie as well.

@bean: Definitely agree on Shaun of the Dead!! It came on in the car today and I started doing the movements like I had a pool cue... Good quiz though. Funny that out of the 12 I got, only 4 came out during the time after I was born...

Great job picking not only famous songs from movies, but beyond that picking famous songs from famous movies that were used in dramatically important ways in famous scenes. Nearly every choice here is iconic enough that the scene it comes from could be parodied and immediately recognizable to most people, and even speak to people that have never seen the movie (as on SNL). That said, The Woman in Red seems like a bit of an outlier--sure, it's a tremendously well-known song, but the movie is not, nor can I for the life of me recall what scene it comes from.

looking forward to a sequel.. "take my breath away" from top gun, "bittersweet symphony" from cruel intentions, maybe even "scotty doesn't know" from eurotrip? great quiz.

Clearly, the song made the movie in these cases because I knew every song but one, and only 14 of the movies.

@CEOIII i totally agree, but in hindsight, i should have known that it was Highlander anyway due to the year, the title, and the fact that it was a Queen song...

@gurl94: If any song from Top Gun made the sequel to this quiz, it should be "Highway to the Danger Zone."

The quiz is great. The Wiki links in the % guessed page need improvement however. Ex: You click Beaches and you get an wikipedia article about a beach.

I've probably seen Working Girl a dozen times and I don't remember "I'm So Excited" being in it at all. Great quiz though.

Yeah for "Working Girl" it should've been Carly Simon's "Let the River Run" which, incidentally, won the Best Original Song Oscar that year.

Half of the answers. In where I come from when you say Rocky, it's Eye of the Tiger, plain and simple. We know the melody of the Rocky entry on the test, but not its name. Also, on the sequel maybe: "Everything I Do" by Brian Adams from "Robin Hood".

@ulashima: Great, but "Eye of the Tiger" isn't in "Rocky." I would also argue that more people would say "Gonna Fly Now" if they knew what the hell the song was called.

true, some of these songs aren't big hits, so i'd know 'gonna fly now' if i heard it but wouldn't in a million years be able to tell you the name. That said i thought 'who wants to live for ever' was one of the easier ones...

There's a reason "I'm So Excited" is doing so poorly. IMDB lists it as being on the soundtracks of Transformers 2, Happy-Go-Lucky, Amy Orgasm (sorry), The Story Of Us, The Nutty Professor, Hot Shots: Part Deux, The Fabulous Baker Boys, the answer provided, Vacation and Summer Lovers. The Pointer Sisters could retire on movie royalties alone. I suggest you substitute "Neutron Dance" from Beverly Hills Cop.

@jamesj0324: As far as I can tell, the Sporcle software just tacks "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/" to the front of the answer. This sometimes links to an article on the answer, but far more often leads to a disambiguation page or to an "article not found" page. The problem is that to actually do this right would require human intervention and I doubt they have the necessary man-hours, especially since the links could be set up properly and *then* Wikipedia changes the target article to a disambiguation page....

Woman in Red...the moment Gene Wilder jumped the comedy shark. Began a string that included Haunted Honeymoon and See no Evil, Hear no Evil. Sorry, just threw up in my mouth a little.
